We loved that we could have it inside the bard if it rained or outside if it was a nice day. We decided to have it on the lawn. We got married in Oct. The staff the day of was very nice and offered help with whatever we needed. And the price of the venue was reasonable for a weekday wedding. With all that said there were a few problems that you might want to know before concerning this lovely place. The lawn was covered with fake plastic flower petals and we have to clean up before we could even start setting up for our wedding. The Bridal suit was incredibly hot and even with only a few people in there we were sweating off our makeup. Not fun when you are the bride. They gave us a tiny fan but it didn't work and that was their only Solution. And finally we had to jump thru hoops to get your deposit back. We called and let them know we moved and gave them our new address. We were told they hadn't mailed it out yet and it would be sent to our new address. We got married on October 3rd and it's now December 11th and we still haven't got it. They owe us $450 and we can't get ahold of anyone. The venue was spotless when we left we even cleaned up after someone else's wedding before our wedding. To say the least we are more then a little upset. It shouldn't take 2 months for us to get our deposit back. Lovely people and very helpful the day of but the management and...
Read moreScheduled a viewing for a wedding venue, was even emailed a notification by them to remind us that we had a viewing. We arrived ahead of schedule and waited till it was time, nobody ever showed up. We called and they said “we are understaffed and there is nobody to come out to show you the venue, would you like to reschedule”. We said no because we were annoyed, I wouldn’t want to rely on a venue when they can’t even show up to a showing. Nobody thought to reach out and let us know while we just stood out there and waited. Not to mention we don’t live around there so we drove out...
Read moreToured as a potential wedding venue recently, the first time I've been to the Majors house in over ten years. The nonprofit that manages the property does as much as they can to keep costs reasonable, and all of the venue cost supports the nonprofit. This is a beautiful space at a fraction of the cost of comparable private venues. And the Majors house museum itself is a fantastic nugget of historical preservation of a Civil War era home in nearly the condition it would have seen at the time. The museum is self-guided and there's so much interest and beauty...
