I enjoy AMC Theaters at Ward Parkway because it's not far from where I live, like most movie theaters. As an AMC Stubs member, I get to enjoy certain discounts that are offered to even the most basic membership (free) like discounted Tuesday showings even after 6 pm. It used to be $5 Movie Watcher Wednesday (with a complimentary small popcorn included back then) when I initially became an AMC Stubs member years ago when it was first offered. I am an avid movie watcher/movie goer (even if I go alone). You can also pre-order food, snacks, and drinks to be delivered when ordering tickets online (supposedly). However, what I encountered when ordering food from the concession stand since the pandemic "inflation changes," especially this last year and a half (January 2022 when pre-ordering tickets for Scream V to be exact). The daytime concession staff literally just stands around "gossiping" (male AND female staff members). There were exactly 6 staff members behind the concession counter where the kiosk to order is located in this particular AMC theater (concession or not. If not, that's even worse because they were all literally standing behind the counter while I looked at each menu puzzled. I have a 4 1/2 year old who doesn't pay attention to ANYTHING running around because I'm making life decisions over their non appetizing menu. Especially for the prices and services). There didn't care. They didn't even break up the conversation. They didn't offer assistance at any point (5 minute duration minimum). Finally a girl a girl with a headset "attempted" to assist me. Even if you haven't eaten ALL day, let alone have the "munchies" the menu AND service (especially when busy) is NOT worth it!! I'll let my stomach touch my back before I spend money with this particular AMC concession stand. I don't even look at the bar area/menu unless I'm on a date, and my husband really needs a drink and doesn't feel like waiting until we get to the restaurant after the movie. I took my daughter to see the new Disney Pixar movie "Elemental" and I was charged a "convenience fee/service fee" AND tax for pre-ordering. Recently, I saw an advance showing of The Fast 10 at 30% off the day before it came out. So...
Read moreI visit this movie theater as an A-List member once a week on average, sometimes more. This will be a semi lengthy review.
1: the ticket buying process. The teenagers who work the kiosk are chill and cool. They also have the LCD display to order if you have debit/credit card.
Staff: Again, nice teenagers work here. They never gave me any problems and tend to mind their own business. I've had to get assistance in escorting people out of my assigned seats before and they get it taken care of for me. Sometimes they seem to get into talk circles and forget people need their tickets ripped but this is a rare occasion.
Consessions: super slow. I dont understand how it takes 3 minutes to grab some popcorn and a soda. Like, are you on drugs back there?
The seats: possibly has the best seats in theaters #1,2,12 (probably some more, cant remember) typically since I see movies on release days. I'm always in one of these rooms. The seats are HUGE! Atleast 1.8x the size of the Barry RD amc & leawood. Lots of space.
The type of audience who come here: it's a 50/50 sometimes you will get people who will talk all thru the movie as if they really don't care about it. I wish the staff would take time to check in after 10 minutes of the movie starting. There have been multiple times I've walked out of a movie and gotten a free movie pass to see something else because of this.
If they fan fix concession speed and fix how much people talk and use phones in a cinema. This would...
Read moreRented out a theatre 2 celebrate both of my nephews birthdays 4:00 Showtime for Space Jam. Arrived 15 minutes early and NOTHING was prepared. Not ONE snack pack. Ken the manager, who chose not to provide his last name was very unprofessional, rude and frankly I'm not sure how he got his job. He needs customer service training. You CANNOT rush my experience because of your mishap, mistakes and lack of service. When asked for the District Manager, in so many words Ken says that he doesn't have one. Again, another refusal of information. I asked if he owned this location and he denied. He has made this 1st time experience horrible and a theatre of people upset. He is so worried about the theatre being available for the people AFTER us. In customer service you tend to the person needing assistance and right now why should we care about the reservation after us if we have not been fully assisted. We had to get our own snacks and bring them in. Had to go get our own drinks! What happened to the people who were supposed to be assisting our group? So disappointing. I was upset, but talking to Ken made it much worse. He has the most horrible attitude and attempted to assert himself telling us that we were wasting time talking to him. Because NOW they are ready to start the movie. He promised a refund of the theatre rental after the movie is over. As far as I'm concerned this entire experience should be free. Please make it right! He did refund the snack packs. We'll see what...
