EDITED: I went to the Hwy 6 location, and the experience was worse because of the staff's attitude. It felt like I was being treated as if I was asking for free service. The food and management are similar (and honestly, I’ve really started liking Banh Mi and Tea), but the service at Hwy 6 was the worst part. I came back to the Katy location yesterday, and the front lady was just as kind and welcoming as on my first visit. She always brings great energy and a warm smile, and that makes all the difference. Sometimes you don’t just come for the a good food — you come for comfort after a long day at work. Even if the food isn’t perfect one day, a smile and good service stay with the customer. That’s why I updated my review and gave Banh Mi and Tea Katy 5 stars. I’ll continue coming here -Katy- only. Hwy 6 team — please smile more, bring some energy, and treat us like valued customers. That’s all we ask. ‐------‐-------------------------------------------------------------------- I stopped by this restaurant recently and wanted to share some honest feedback that I hope the team will consider.
First, I was a bit surprised to see that the tip screen pops up before the service is provided. It felt a little uncomfortable, though I appreciated that the young lady at the counter seemed to recognize that — she quietly stepped away to begin preparing my order, which gave me space to decide without pressure. That small gesture actually meant a lot and showed good awareness, so I genuinely appreciated her professionalism
As for the food, my husband ordered the pho, and unfortunately, the broth didn’t taste fresh. It was quite cloudy rather than clear, which took away from the clean, rich flavor I usually associate with good pho. I understand this is primarily a banh mi-focused place, so I wasn’t expecting restaurant-level pho, but it still fell short of even modest expectations.
I tried the banh mi. While the price was on the higher side, the flavor was just average. The portion felt a bit small, and the bread was so hard and crumbly that it actually hurt my gums while eating — it might be worth revisiting the choice of bread or how it’s baked.
There was no face covering worn during prep, even though everything is made in front of customers. These are small steps that go a long way in maintaining hygiene and customer trust.
That said, I want to end on a positive note — the young woman at the front was incredibly kind and professional. Because of her, I’m open to giving the place another try. Hopefully with a few improvements, I’ll be able to update this review with a better...
Read moreOn a cold winter afternoon mama’s kitchen & tea provided the coziest and most delicious treats that warmed both my body and soul. This hidden gem is a must visit for everyone! When I walked in there I was filled with the delightful aroma of freshly brew tea and with so many comforting dishes. I ended up ordering the Wintermelon whisper, a delicious and refreshing tea that tested so good on my taste buds. Along with the Ube Dream, and Strawberry banana smoothie. Then for the meals I ordered the noodle box w/ shrimps, flavor packed delight, with crunchy fried shrimp on top of the perfectly cooked noodles, each bite bursting with flavor! The Asada fries were also a hit too, fries topped with juicy, beef, lime, melted cheese and sprinkles of fresh herbs, just delicious.
The dishes I tried today at Mama’s kitchen & Tea were amazing to their dedication to quality and flavor. From the welcoming staff to the meticulously crafted menu, it was safe to say that this place was all about creating memorable experiences, which i will be coming back to!
Please take your time and visit this wonderful place that I call heaven, because Mama’s kitchen & Tea is truly a treasure that everyone should come...
Read moreThis is my first time here, i went with my family 2 days ago and also my first time writing a review because I had to! I went to Vietnam a couple of years ago and fell in love with Vietnamese banh mi. Ever since coming back, I couldn’t find anything close… until now. This banh mi is insanely good and instantly brought me back to Vietnam. The tea was a little off for my taste, but honestly, the banh mi alone is more than enough.
The service though was just as amazing. The lady at the front is so sweet and friendly in that genuine Vietnamese way I haven’t experienced anywhere else in America, even in other Vietnamese restaurants. She truly made me feel like I was back in Vietnam. She deserves a raise, she works nonstop and serves with so much enthusiasm. A++++ service!
Please keep this place open with good hours, because this is definitely my...
