V's Barbershop - Fulshear Katy — Local services in Katy

Update: owner called me this morning and apologized for the misunderstanding, and said they are working through the mask ordinance. I appreciated the phone call and support this local business.

It seems the new mask rules only apply to certain customers at V’s barbershop in Katy, off of 1463 .

While waiting for my son to get his hair cut, I got a drink and sat down in the chairs by the back wall. Both seats next to me were open.

As i was drinking my drink I was told "I had to wear a mask, it’s the rules". I asked how am i supposed to drink with a mask on? She said everyone is wearing a mask and proceeded to lift her mask up a down to show me how to drink with a mask on.

Meanwhile a patron getting his hair cut (attached pic) wasn’t wearing a mask. I asked the lady about the person not wearing the mask, she gave me some excuse about the hair stylist being her boss. The hairstylist also said i was sitting next to people. I responded that both chairs next to me were open and that if your going to make me wear a mask then all customer should. I also said that "I guess the rules only apply to certain people".

Look, if your going enforce the rules, then apply the rules to all customers, rather than picking and choosing who must or who is exempt from wearing a mask. It seems V's has a two tier system for...

I brought my son in for a quick haircut before his basketball game. Barbershop is located in a nice plaza off of 1093, but traffic can be bad so plan accordingly.

Our appointment was at 4:30 and we were taken care of immediately. I showed Aurora a sample picture of what we would like for his cut. She took a good look, and got to work.

Seating is located against the wall so I can stay in good view of the haircut. Barbers are wearing masks, and the atmosphere seems nice. Individual TV's located in the client's view with nicely organized sports memorabilia decorated along the walls.

Aurora is very quiet, but seemed very polite. She would ask for my input and if I liked how it looked - and when I asked for a shorter cut, she immediately did just that. She spent a reasonable amount of time perfecting the cut to ensure that it looked perfect.

Now, realistically, the haircut differed a bit from the picture I showed her, but it looked amazing. It suited my son very handsomely. Although she was kept to herself, she did an amazing job.

Prices are incredibly affordable - his haircut was $20 even, but of course, I had to make sure to tip her for her work!

I went in for a haircut and Aurora did the cut. She was fine. I got home and noticed the fade on the part side needed fixed. No big deal. It was hard to tell in the chair because she used gel to get the hair down to cut in the part. I went in the next morning to ask if someone could just fix the fade and I was told yes by Simon. I sat and patiently waited for a while, as they were accommodating me. Well, then UD called me over to say he’s going to fix it. He asked what I wanted on the sides, and I told him it was a 2. Then he asked about the back—squared or round. I told him the back was fine I just needed the sides faded. He proceeded to tell me he was charging me a full cut again. I reminded him it was the day before that Aurora cut it, so no need to do anything else. Just fix that, then I’d pay him something for his time and be on my way. It was less than 24 hours later and nothing else needed done. He said he “…had a job to do and it was a full haircut or nothing,” as he took the cover up off. That’s ridiculous.
