Na Hoku - Hawaii's Finest Jewelers Since 1924 — Local services in Kauai

I thought on this experience for awhile before posting this review because I love this company and my husband and I have been shopping with Na Hoku since we started visiting Hawaii, for over 15 years now. My engagement ring is from this Poipu store. We have purchased many other items while visiting the islands and at home— cuffs, rings, necklaces, earrings. However, the visit I had last week saddened me as it lacked the warmth that I have come to expect when visiting a Na Hoku store. I was in the store to send my wedding set to have the rhodium redone- which had been recommended to me by an employee at the Valley Faire store in San Jose - a few months ago. I thought I’d save it for our trip. When I entered I had to say hello, there were three employees there who did not say hello and just stared at me. One employee did assist me with sending my rings off but the experience lacked the Aloha I have come to expect at Na Hoku. Michelle was absolutely the sweetest and I’m glad she was there to help me shop. She helped me pick out two necklaces (one was a gift). It was a beautiful collection but I was bummed there were no hibiscuses. My only reason for not giving 5 stars was a woman behind the counter that just seemed to stare at my friend and I and didn’t say a word. It was a bit uncomfortable. Wife was just here and was totally ignored by the older woman with glasses. She was interested in looking at a piece, made it obvious by taking a picture of the piece, made eye contact with the sales person multiple times, and was passed over to help a couple.
