I really love the coffee shop in this space, the drinks and service are great. I also love the fountain outside for the kids to play in, my grandkids love playing here in the summer, and they have great events throughout the year. My main gripes are with the city staff (one in particular, Bill I think), and the fact that it gets ridiculously hot inside.
I hadn't seen him before so maybe he's new, but he's been so rude every time I've either interacted with him or seen him interact with others. I'm not entirely sure why he's in "public service" if he doesn't like interacting with the public. Earlier this week I watched him kick a person with a service dog out, despite the fact that they said they had paperwork...he refused to even look at it. Other people tried to speak up and calm the situation but he wasn't having it. I would expect the city to train their staff better, because even if they were "faking" as he insisted they were, you'd think there would be a more diplomatic way to handle it.
It also gets very warm in the space on hot days, and if you're not positioned directly next to an AC vent expect to sweat.
None of this is enough to keep me away, because I do really like the coffee shop/staff and my grandkids love coming to play in the splash pad. Just something to keep in mind if you have a service animal or can't handle heat.
That said, I think the space has a lot of potential if the city can figure these issues out. It's so rare to find this sort of "third place" and I do really appreciate Kenmore making it available to us. Worst case scenario, we come by on days...
Read moreThree stars indicates my expectations were met when I last visited this business. That may seem harsh to some who would expect five stars for such, so I'll explain. Three stars is the baseline indicating a good experience. This leaves room for disappointing visits to lose stars and for pleasant surprises to be rewarded with added stars. So.....three stars means my expectations were met and The Hanger did not lose or gain stars. This visit I dropped in while enjoying a walk around town. My daughter is a resident here and my home, now, is in the Phoenix, AZ valley. I sat and enjoyed the relaxed vibes for a while before resuming my exploring. A great spot to do...
Read moreWonderful place to hang out with the kiddo in the summer months because of the water fountain. Most kids that go here are young (and kind/well-behaved according to one mom) and have plenty of space to run around. Plenty of benches and bistro tables for the parents/guardians to use.
The indoor space is great for adults hanging out or meeting up, as well as kids because there is a kiddie corner with coloring books, crayons and games.
There's coffee, pastries, fresh fruit, and sandwiches to be had from Diva Espresso.
Love...
