Benoits Boutique — Local services in Kennebunkport

THE best boutique!!! I stumbled upon this boutique my first morning in Kennebunkport. The night before I had gone wondering around an found only mostly t-shirt and souvenir shops open, so when I came across this little shop, to say I was excited was would be an understatement. On top of that I met the shop owner, Heidi, who could not have been more fun, kind and welcoming. She happened to be running some incredible sales too! I piled my dressing room up with the cutest dresses, paints, shirts and sweatshirts. So many adorable pieces. Long story short, I have some new favorites to fill my closet! And as a bonus I met the most wonderful shop owner in Heidi, who goes WAY above and beyond to make sure her clients have an amazing experience at her store. I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Benoit’s Dock Square was disappointing enough to share. Upon visiting, I found the prices to be extremely high — which in itself isn’t an issue if the value and customer service align. However, when I made an offhand comment to my companion about how expensive an item was, the owner overheard and abruptly responded with, “Thank you, but we didn’t ask you for your opinion.”

This reaction was uncalled for and set a very unwelcoming tone. Shopping in a boutique should feel inviting, but instead, I left feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. Regardless of pricing, respect and courtesy toward customers are fundamental, and this experience unfortunately fell far short.

Based on this interaction, I would not recommend this store to others, as no one should have to deal with such unprofessional behavior...

Update 9/7/22: The owner was immediately responsive to this review and was eager to assist in resolving the issue. She was apologetic and dealt with the situation very professionally.

I was so excited about a necklace I found here. I asked the owner who designed the necklace as there was no tag and he told me it was a couple from Mumbai. He also told me that "today only" (though there were no signs advertising this), the store was doing 20% off jewelry. I later noticed an inscription on the backing of the necklace that noted that the designer was Chan Luu. When I went to the website of the designer, I saw that the necklace was $105 less than what was advertised in the store. Even though I received 20% off, I was overcharged. I'm so...
