The Candy Man — Local services in Kennebunkport

Stopped in today with my husband to get some chocolate and treats for our kiddos back home. When we walked in one of the workers was talking loudly about her fight with her friend the night before and didn’t even stop to greet us. Then when we walked up to the counter to choose our chocolate the Asian woman who was also working looked extremely annoyed at the fact that she had to serve us. I would’ve gotten a lot more chocolate as gifts if she hadn’t made me feel so unbelievably uncomfortable. They just went completely silent and stared at us until we were done. My husband asked a question about the peanut butter cups and the woman was condescending with her answer. Honestly one of the worst experiences I’ve had in any establishment. I bought candy at three other places in the surounding area, and find Candy Man to be the best. Some of the others, I had been to years ago and liked, but they seem to be going more commercial now with less butter, and cream, and more gourmet, but tasteless chocolate, so generally not worth even buying. I actually threw some of the other candy away, as the chocolate was so waxy and tasteless, and centers watery. Candy Man is still good, with chocolate that actually melts in your mouth and has flavor. Their products still have a homemade quality that makes them really good, so better than any of the other store's products in the area . Worth stopping in on your adventures around Kennebunkport. My mom and my son had just finished a lovely lunch at the Boat House across the way from this candy shop. We walk in and not a hi or smile from the two women working behind the counter. My mom asked the women behind the counter where the chocolates are made and the peanut butter cups. She roughy and Abruptly answered my mom in a rude and disrespectful way. It made both me and my mom feel uncomfortable enough to just walk out. She barely asked how she could help us like as if we were annoying her. I don’t understand how this candy shop is still open with awful customer service and making patrons feel like they shouldn’t even be buying candy. We will never go back!!
