Update: per the owners request, here are the rest of the details of what happened. Shortly after we entered the store, the owner/cashier said “ANYONE under 12 has to wear a mask.” He is correct that we had 4 children from 8 months to age 6. None of them had masks as we had easily been in over 15 stores that day with no one requesting (much less enforcing) such a rule. Since we did not have masks, we needed to leave.

As far as the phones, there is literally a sign on the front door telling patrons that they are discouraged from using their phones inside the store. As soon as you enter, there is another sign posted saying that patrons are not allowed to take photos with their phones. So that’s where that part of the review came from.

If there is a state law or mandate requiring masks for anyone under 12, I will be more than happy to delete this review as that is out of your control and you simply have to follow the law. But that is unlikely as this was the only store that we went to that...

Do NOT shop at this store

My family and I, longtime residents of over 20 years, were enjoying our day when we stopped in. We saw some funny coasters, and my daughter and I joked, saying, “Wow, this is funny, you should take a photo of that.” The man behind the counter, eavesdropping on our conversation, rudely interrupted with “please don’t.” Taken aback, I said to my daughter, “we can find it online,” to which he snidely replied, “well if you take a photo, it would only be fair I charge you.” All over an innocent photo of a $4.99 coaster, he chose to speak in such a dismissive tone that I was completely turned off. I immediately rounded up my daughters and said, “come on girls, let’s leave,” to which he replied, “please do.”

With an attitude like yours, no wonder your store is called ‘Home Ingredients’—it’s the only place where your miserable personality belongs, because nobody else wants a taste of it.

I’ve always had great shopping experiences in the 20-plus years I’ve lived here, and advise nobody to step foot in this store.

Must visit this shop in Kennebunkport…Really outstanding experience here. My family and I visited the store in search of some artwork and they had a wonderful selection here! The owners went above and beyond helping us select the right piece as we had questions regarding the frame. Mike offered to inquire with the manufacturer to see if they made exact dimensions we were looking for and showed us some print outs of what would be our options.. AKA he really spent the time helping us. Ultimately we loved the artwork and really appreciated the incredible customer service and we walked away with gorgeous artwork for our home.

Worth mentioning the owners were extremely friendly and kind as well as I had a lovely conversation with the man at the front counter whilst waiting for my purchase to be wrapped. I really can’t see how anyone could have a bad experience here these folks were awesome and the selection of items were unique, well made, and gorgeous.

Overall, our favorite shop in Kennebunkport! Can’t wait to go back on our next...
