Summary: Most Disappointing Lounge I have Visited. If you have to pay the $50+ dollar entry fee,...don't. We (Wife, child, and I) visited this lounge on December 29, 2023, at 8:05 pm. The service and experience were terrible from start to finish. The general feeling I got from every staff member who interacted with us (except the bartender) was that customers were an inconvenience.
Pros: It is free for priority pass members. However, if your experience is like ours, you'll still be disappointed that this is the only option at the MSY domestic terminal.
Cons: The "Welcome": Starting when we walked in, the two male greeters at the desk did not greet us. There was no greeting or welcome. The body language and tone of one with the long nails was that of disdain or that we were an inconvenience to him. Both male greeters continued their conversation while hardly acknowledging our presence.
Seating: We then went to find a table. We noticed that most of the tables were dirty. We found a row of 4-5 tables that were spacious and clean but had the chairs put on top of the tables. As I placed the chairs on the floor and sat down, a woman said: "you can't sit there; those are closed; we just cleaned them." She went on to say they were closing soon. (note: this was still 50 minutes until they closed) Like the "welcome" staff, this staff member also seemed to view customers as inconvenient. So, we went to a smaller table instead.
Restrooms: I then tried to go to the restroom. There were four unisex restrooms, but the staff had blocked off 3/4. So, a line of 4 women (and me) was waiting for one unisex restroom. When another person tried to move past the carts the staff had blocking one of the restrooms; a woman said something like: "You can't use those; I don't want to have to clean them again." I had to wait in line for 15 minutes of the hour I was there because they didn't allow customers to use more than 25% of their restrooms. Again, similar to the "welcome" crew and the staff guarding tables, this staff viewed customers as inconvenience.
Cleanliness: Of the five pieces of glassware my family used, 3 were obviously dirty. One wine glass had nearly a whole hand's worth of what appeared to be hummus-covered fingerprints on it.
Drinks: Because I waited so long on a restroom, I missed the chance to order a cocktail (they stopped serving cocktails at 8:30 pm - 30 minutes before close). I ordered two glasses of wine. My wife's glass had a lot of debris in it (in addition to the aforementioned fingerprints). I returned for a replacement and soon discovered why there was so much debris in the glass. The bartender seemed nice enough (much more cordial and warmer than the "welcome" crew), but she clearly did not know how to open a bottle of wine. Most notably, she twisted the corkscrew well past the bottom of the cork, causing the cork to break into the wine. Then she wrestled with the bottle like it was some plumbing job, wrenching and twisting the cork out, likely causing more cork to enter the wine.
In summary, be prepared to be disappointed and to feel like you are an inconvenience to the staff if you visit...
Read moreThe place looked nice, the food that is ordered by phone tastes good, when you get it. The bread pudding was a bit chewy, everything else ordered tasted really good. The food takes a long time to get to you. At one point I wasn't sure if I was ever going to get it. The place was kind of crowded, which would have been ok IF the place was cleaned consistently. There were used glasses, left over plates, food, etc on tables. The salad buffet wasn't that clean, there was barely any food. To get juice was difficult. Why don't they have a juice fountain or something like that at the buffet area? Allow guests to get it themselves. It needs lots of improvement in my opinion. I get that some staff may not like working there too, because I saw this white lady ordering around a black server like he was a dog; with her hand up and money on hand, looking all angry, almost needed to whistle at him to make the full picture come through. I was shocked. Being from NYC I found that disrespectful. You dont call staff like that. You stand up and ask them nicely your questions. I mean is called been educated and considerate. I dont care how much money you think you have, people should be treated with respect. So, I can totally understand why maybe the place looks like it does-a bit neglected. If you going there, please be nice!
Also, feedback to location is that it would have been great if there was a way for guests who dont carry cash to give tips to the staff. I rarely carry cash, so I was a bit upset at not being able to give tip to the staff who brought me food. If there is a system I couldn't figure it out. If there is no tips policy, which I also understand, there should be a way guests can give reviews about the staff electronically and it go directly to the managers. I think some recognition is always...
Read moreThis lounge is a bummer, we were super excited to give it a try after reading a few promising reviews but it definitely isn’t worth it unless you want to get alcoholic drinks. So many cons that unfortunately outweigh the pros. Before reading, keep in mind this was at 7/8AM, so I’m not sure how the experience is in the afternoon. To start, the breakfast being served was extremely underwhelming and honestly, to be point blank, gross and unappetizing. It’s much worse than your standard hotel breakfast and the options are LIMITED. I’m talking like 3 things to choose from. Next, it’s just not kept up with very well, and I do get it’s really busy and a lot of people are coming in and out, but at the end of the day it’s a lounge and it’s suppose to feel like a relaxing, luxury experience. Trash all over the floor, tables are dirty, chairs are dirty, buffet not kept up with. They were out of plates to put food on pretty much the whole time we were there, then when they did restock they put five (5) plates out. They were gone after about 3 minutes again. Additionally, this lounge isn’t central at all, it’s on one end of the airport, so if you’re on the other end, you’ve got a good walk ahead of you. Like mentioned in the beginning, the bar was the only good part, serving good drinks, heavy pours, and nice friendly staff. If you’re looking to enjoy cocktails before your flight- go! If...
