ShadowCaster Flats Fishing — Local services in Key West

Booked a flats/Backwater fishing trip as part of my son's 21st birthday trip. Captain Travis asked us what we would like to focus on, I told him I'm up for whatever he suggests we would have success with but ultimately I would love for my son to hook up with a Tarpon. He proceeded to try the flats first to try and get some Bonefish or Permit. We weren't having much luck, so rather than wasting too much time with no luck there, he brought us to another spot where he knew we would hook up. My son almost immediately hooked up with a nice Baracuda. We continued to catch a few more Cuda's but as the sun was about to set, he took us to go find some Tarpon....we found a school rolling out in front of us. Travis positioned the boat and my son again immediately hooked up with a nice Tarpon. He was ecstatic. Our time was just about up, but Travis kept us out a little longer to see if we could hook up again as the Tarpon was all around us. I hooked up with a shark. It was dark at this point and although Travis was being generous and keeping us out even longer, I said we can go in now, Im just happy my son was able to knock off another species off his bucket list. We just wrapped up another two days of fishing (this makes six trips) with Capt. Justin from Shadow Caster Flats Fishing—and once again, he blew us away. Every adventure with him has been unforgettable, and these last two days were no exception. I stand by everything I said in a previous review: Capt. Justin is hands-down the best.

From the moment we stepped on his boat, he made us feel like family. His sense of humor kept us laughing, his fishing expertise is unmatched, and his playlist had us jamming all day. The energy he brings is infectious—positive, laid-back, and totally dialed in.

Over two days, we explored multiple spots and reeled in a wide variety of fish, having an absolute blast along the way. For a perfect ending to day 1, Justin filleted our fresh catch, and we feasted like champions at a local restaurant. The second day had many highlight's as well but to end it, my son hooked into a massive lemon shark —an epic catch that capped off the day perfectly.

My family and I had a wonderful 4 hour morning fishing trip that exceeded all of my wishes and dreams. First, I love fishing but my 15 and 12 year old girls are difficult to motivate for fishing. Captian John was attentive and interactive with the girls...even advocating when I was trying to help with the fishing...and he prompted that they could do it themselves....And THEY DID!!!!!!!

AND THE FISHING!!!!!!. Captain John knew what he wanted to try and it worked. Two tarpon and multiple hooks ups in a matter of minutes. I know sometimes the luck is just with the boat sometime but 1 tarpon well over 100 lbs and the other easily over 60 lbs. Of course it takes a long time to wrangle those size of fish, so there wasn't time for my wife or I but that didn't matter to us......we will be back without the kids one day.

Also, Captain John willingly turned on an all Disney music channel and were asking the girls about the music and the movies.....way above and beyond.

Without catching a fishing I would have rated his interactions 10 out of 10....you add on world class...
