Holly & Brooks — Local services in Kiawah Island

I am an owner of a house on Kiawah Island for the past 25 years. Yet I have never experienced what I did today when I walked into Holly and Brooks Shoe store to buy a pair of shoes. A customer in the store was wearing a pair of sandals that were perfect for me and she told me she liked them and they were very comfortable and she had come back to get another pair for a friend. She also said that the shop had just received a large number of these shoes and that I will have no problem getting them. The customer told the saleswoman to first get the shoe for me and then ring up her purchase. I felt that was extraordinarily generous, but I thanked her and said that I would wait my turn after the clerk rings her up. When the customer left, an older woman rushed in carrying her food bag apologizing for the delay in relieving the salesgirl. The salesgirl deferred to her as one would to an owner. The clerk started signing out to her totally ignoring me. She then after finishing her paper work turned to the owner and said that I wanted such and such shoe, The older woman asked “ what size?” and when I told her my size which is a very average size, she immediately said she did not think they had any. She then went to the back and was in an out of the back in 30 seconds and said they did not have it and went back to work at the cash register totally dismissing me. She did not ask if I needed anything else. Just said “sorry” and kept working at the till. The service in this store is extremely poor. ( The only reason i gave one star is that the site doesn't let me post with No star which is what this shop deserves) I would not recommend this store to any one coming to stay at our house or visiting Kiawah who go shopping at...

Friendly & fun place to shop! When entering the store, the first thing I noticed was it had great inventory and lots of options of clothing and shoes. The second thing I noticed is the two ladies I could see working on the floor were working hard! The next thing I noticed is that even though they were busy, they were friendly with everyone…. They were hustling! Pulling shoes from the back for customers and checking inventory in the back for needed sizes.
