The store is pretty and the hammocks are nice. The people who work there are friendly. However, this is a one-star review because I experienced extremely poor communication during the fulfillment and shipping process.
I purchased my hammock in person at the store, and opted to have it shipped to my house. I wish I had just taken it with me the day I bought it. It turned out that my hammock was out of stock at the warehouse, and manufacturing was having a delay. Nags Head Hammocks made no effort to communicate with me about any of this at any point, either in the store or after the hammock was delayed.
I contacted customer service myself after two weeks went by, because that was how long I was told it would take for my hammock to arrive. The customer service person was apologetic, but didn't really have an answer for me about why no one had contacted me about the delay, or why I hadn't been informed at the store that my hammock was out of stock. However, she promised me it would be here no later than last Friday. That was a bald-faced lie; the hammock didn't leave the warehouse until late Thursday afternoon.
So now it's Tuesday, and three weeks since I paid, and I'm still not in my backyard chilling in a hammock. FedEx tracking says it will be here today, and perhaps it will be. My advice is to buy your hammock here if you want one, but take it with you. If you have to have it shipped, ask lots of questions about warehouse stock and manufacturing delays, and expect to initiate communication with customer service yourself. Read moreHubby and I went in to purchase two chairs and a table. We were greeted by the manager, Dalton, as soon as we arrived. He started to help us until an older couple came in behind us. He ditched us and went to help them. For 15 minutes we wandered the store with no assistance. There were 3 other people working there and no one offered to help. We couldn’t figure out the problem until we overheard Dalton talking to the other couple and his employees.
He was loud, kept interrupting the couple as they tried to explain their issue, he told them he was the manager several times and the longer he talked to them the louder he got. And the way he talked over his staff was demeaning. In the middle of the transaction with the other couple, Hubby asked a young lady working there for a tape measure. Dalton stepped away from the couple and yelled over at us about the height of the chair. He wouldn’t let her help us.
I was talking to the young lady about colors. When it came time to make the decision I was questioning which shade of blue would look best. Dalton interrupted our conversation and decided he would help me instead. I told him that I wanted her to help me. He kept getting louder and louder and said she was new and didn’t know much. I would have walked out right then and there had Hubby not really wanted the chairs and table.
Sure, he knew his stuff. But at what cost to customers...
Read moreOrdered a swing ($600.00 plus). They state that the cushion is water resistant. Well, most of our cushion was water resistant. There was about an 8 inch area that wasn't. Flaw in the stitching. I called them, they asked for pictures. I sent them pictures and several videos of the puddle of water that was seeping through the threads of the cushion. I am not sure how much more evidence is needed, but I am waiting on a return label because this $600.00 swing is totally not worth it. It may go to the next level if they do not refund me or send me a free return label. I cannot believe a company like this is putting their customers in this situation. Disgusting!!!
