This hotel was the worst experience on our 9 day trip to Virginia and Outer Banks. I tried to book the wonderful Inn at Corolla Light where I once stayed in 1998. Unfortunately they were booked out 3 weeks in advance, so we had no choice and booked this filthy place.|Our room was very smelly (mould?), but we couldn't open the balcony door, it had no window screen. I didn't want flies and mosquitos in the room, so we put up with the terrible smell.||The bathroom was unprofessionally renovated with the tape still remaining on some spots (?). And the little board on which we put our cup with the tooth brushes was underneath very yucky (I rather don't know what was growing there, in any case their cleaning crew never paid attention to the underside of that board over the sink in the bathroom). |The shower was o.k., but it's not a walk in shower, it's a bathtub shower.||Their breakfast is not a buffet where you can help yourself, you have to wait for the waitress to ring your number, then you can pick it up at the counter (???). |We came one morning at 7 a.m. and were the 3rd table. Shortly after we noticed two other groups who were coming after us and both had their breakfast within no time at all.|After 40 minutes I inquired at the counter if they had forgotten about us (we never waited THAT LONG for our breakfast, not even in Europe on our many trips). Finally after close to 50 minutes our breakfast was ready.|From that day on we rather had breakfast at Henry's Diner in Kill Devil Hills where we received our breakfast every single morning within 5 minutes.||Our room was on the 5th floor (fortunately far away enough from the very noisy indoor pool downstairs), but we were too close to the elevator and would I not have taken my white noise machine with me on this trip, the constant loud ping of the elevator would have kept me awake. Room 510 is still too close to the elevator, try a higher number to be further away from the elevator.||This is a very noisy hotel with children still yelling even around 8 p.m.. When you enter the room (the view on the beach and ocean is the only beautiful thing about this hotel) there is a long hallway. If the hotel would invest in an extra door next to the beds, it would protect the hotel guests from all the noise that's going on in the hallway.||The receptionists were nice and helpful.|The room has a refrigerator and in comparison to the Wyndham Hotel in Williamsburg, VA, it has a closet with hangers (Williamsburg had only hooks on the wall, no closet, no hangers).|But there is no free water like in many other hotels where we stayed.||Plenty of towels, but the two queen-size beds were lousy. No good mattresses. We got up with a sore back. Never ever again such a cheap hotel!|Weak Wi Fi connection.|When we booked this hotel via Orbitz, they claimed that breakfast is included, well, it's not included in the room price. They charge you $ 11 per person per day.|We paid $ 2.230 for 6 nights which is hopelessly over-priced for a hotel that offers so little.|We'll definitely return to the Outer Banks, but next time we'll stay at the Inn at Corolla Light.|It has a big parking in front of the hotel.||The beach is very beautiful. I'll attach a few pics.|We can also recommend visiting Jennette's Pier on the opposite end...
Read moreI recently had the displeasure of staying at the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Nags Head Oceanfront and it was nothing short of a nightmare. To say my experience was disappointing would be an understatement.
Upon arrival, I immediately noticed the lack of cleanliness in the room. The toilet was disgustingly unclean, a sight that no guest should ever have to encounter. As if that wasn't bad enough, the shower was clogged with what seemed like a mountain of hair, which took the front desk clerk a good 10 minutes to clear out just to use it. The absence of outlets in the room was inconvenient, especially since there was no clock provided. It's baffling how a basic amenity like a clock could be missing in this day and age.
As I inspected the room further, it became apparent that cleanliness was not a priority for the staff. There was old food left in the fridge, a dirty pillowcase, and a towel that looked like it hadn't been washed in weeks. The bathroom was a breeding ground for filth, with loose hairs strewn across the floor and dirty surfaces. To top it all off, my daughter stumbled upon a bloody tissue in the corner of the bathroom floor, which was absolutely revolting and completely unacceptable.
To make matters worse, there was no sign of any housekeeping during my short 2 hour stay. The minimal cleaning that was done seemed to be carried out by the head staff on duty, which clearly wasn't enough to maintain a decent standard of hygiene. When I raised my concerns with staff on site, his response was pitiful. He offered me a mere 15% off my nightly rate as compensation and had the audacity to suggest that I wait until the morning for housekeeping to address the issues. Why should I have to endure such appalling conditions and wait for a solution that should have been provided in the first place?
What's even more frustrating is the lack of accountability from the management. I was told that the hotel is independently owned, but that should not excuse the neglectful attitude towards guests' comfort and well-being. Despite expressing my dissatisfaction to the manager, it was clear that she was indifferent to my concerns. Her agreement with the measly compensation and vocalization that I should too have waited until the morning for housekeeping only served to further aggravate an already infuriating situation.
This experience has left me deeply disappointed, especially considering that this was my first time staying at a Ramada hotel. I expected better from a reputable chain like Ramada, and I certainly did not anticipate encountering such appalling conditions. Needless to say, I will never be returning to this establishment, and I urge others to think twice before booking a stay here. I would love to have some follow up from the owner of this establishment to see if there is some form of...
Read moreJust don’t, people. Especially if you are looking for a “pet-friendly” hotel, I suggest giving serious pause before pulling the trigger on a reservation at this hotel. On my quest for a fun-filled, kind of affordable, relaxing birthday weekend, I made reservations at this Ramada through Expedia. We were very excited to check into our ocean view king bed room…with our 2 bulldogs.
I will admit that I did not read all the fine print, and didn’t do the research I should have because this was a last minute trip. We booked it one day in advance so no cancellations . I received about 6 text messages and emails from the hotel right after booking through Expedia, and who is going to read all that? The gist of them was our ocean view room was going to be fabulous and yay.
Imagine my surprise when we went to check in and were told we could not stay in the ocean view room we booked. The hotel’s policy is pets may only stay on the first floor, in a “dune view”, pet friendly room. We tried everything to cancel the stay, or at least get a reduction in price because there are places with an ACTUAL ocean view for the same money, and we were told we were out of luck because they “notified” me right there in their policy, and I should have gotten “an email”. One of the emails, sent AFTER confirming a non-refundable no cancellation reservation, did say the pet friendly rooms are on the first floor. They just didn’t specify that the pet friendly rooms have a trash view and that the reservation we had was not in a pet friendly room. Silly me for assuming the ocean view room we booked was pet friendly.
As it dawned on us that we were indeed stuck at this hotel whether we liked it or not, (not is the answer), about 100 teenagers arrived on 3 buses. Oh, goody. Determined to make the best of this situation, we piled into our first floor sand dune room. I was happy to see that at least it wasn’t a parking lot view room, where construction was happening, but the relief was short lived when I saw the “pet friendly“ area. There is a back door leading to a sand dune with a fair amount of trash on the ground back there. And a patch or weeds overlooking the fenced dog yard that belongs to the hotel next door. There was construction blocking the path to the beach.
But the highlight of the afternoon was when the gentleman next door arrived. We were treated to the crystal clear entirety of his phone conversation, including every word uttered by person on the phone. My favorite part was the F bombs. I wonder if the ceiling will collapse on us? Walls made of paper can’t be very strong…
I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel in any way, shape, or form and we haven’t even endured more than a couple...
