Not sure when or why this store got new reps/mgmt. The employee in the store I think his name was Stryx or Astrix... his name tag/lanyard was poorly written and was covering it up. White guy with like mature/receding hairline.
Anyways, I came in to trade a ps5 slim digital edition in and had issues with this gentleman from the very beginning. From the jump it seemed like he was uninterested in helping me with no one else in the store. No greeting or anything just looked at me and waited for me to say something to him.
Onto the trade itself, I brought what I thought was everything and he informed me that almost $100 would be coming off the trade value because I didn't have the little plastic pieces Sony includes in the box as a "stand". As well as a usb a to usb c cable. I originally was just going to just let it go because I don't use the ps5 anyway so screw it.
But once he told me that $100 would be coming of for things that are less than $10 total in loss I decided t run back home and get the plastic clips from out the box. Previous reps would've just gave me one of the cheap little plastic stands that come with the slim off the counter behind them which ironically the guy grabbed to show me what stand it is (not the separate Sony stand that's round with metal ring).
So finally I have everything right, plastic clips usb c to usb a cable... he runs up the trade again this time with all items or so he says... it's still offering me $138 instead of $230 as it says on the site for cash value for Pro members.... so I'm waiting for him to fix whatever is going on but nope he starts the spiel of "welllll it says UP TO $2301 and I am just going off what my system is telling me".
I then stated this is literally the first time I've ever had a problem with a trade in with GameStop (have been a longstanding pro member) and I would go to another store because I don't believe he knows what he is doing and I've been very patient into this point.
He says "fine go right ahead, I've been here for a long time and I've never had an issue either... I'm just going off what my system is telling me"....
Fast forward 20 mins later, I'm at the GameStop in Bothell walking out with $231 in cash per the trade in amount from the site....
Until they get more knowledgeable people at this location... avoid...

I am not a gamer, but sought help getting a setup for a weekend with just me and one of my kids. And after an initial bout of bad advice from a different employee, Nicholas went to bat to make things right, even calling his boss to override a no return policy. He gave me great advice on how to set up what I wanted, and he tested the stuff we bought before we left the store to ensure we were good to go.
About that policy: Game Stop, what are you thinking not allowing returns? I’m sorry but it’s that kind of policy that is contributing to the death of retail. When an employee gives inaccurate information, the customer should not be expected to swallow a $100 penalty for gear they can’t use just because it was opened. How the heck would I know that it wasn’t going to work until trying it? That is the only reason why I can’t give five stars.
I give Nicholas TEN STARS and the company one.
That said, this store does have used gear and lots of used titles. It’s not really my world, so I can’t speak to the quality, but for my purposes, the options of three major platforms available, plus games and accessories for them all seemed like plenty.
Just gotta get Game Stop to be as good as this employee. He exhibited the kind of customer service that seems...

I’ve been to multiple gamestops in Washington AND in other states and have NEVER been told I can’t use it for two pokemon release transactions. I went to alderwood last week and was able to.
