Dr. Devine is terrible. I moved to Knoxville recently and needed to get my eyes checked because I was due for a check-up. I was not aware that there is a contact lens fitting fee of $40 nor was I told there would be one. Some insurances cover it and some don't. I was not made aware that mine did not cover the fee. The doctor did not take much time with me--we spent maybe 13 minutes tops. When he looked in my eyes he noticed that there was an eyelash growing inward toward my left eye and said that he would pluck it but would have to charge me a fee -- something my previous doctor never would have charged for. He gave me astigmatism-specific contact lenses to try for a week and told me to call. I was hoping to have my prescription in hand when I left the office but it seems like the doctor had some doubts about the prescription and didn't want me to have it. On the second day the lens for my left eye caused strain and a ring of blood formed around my iris. I immeiately took it out and called the doctor the next day. They told me to come in for a follow-up visit at no cost. When I was taken back to the exam room the doctor said that he couldn't do anything for me because the contact he prescribed wasn't still in my eye. I was highly upset at this because I explained to him the intense pain it caused me yet for some reason he expected me to have left it in. The doctor said that it needed to align in a certain way for it to work; however, when I was in the office the first time and it supposedly "aligned" I still couldn't read words at a distance like I should have been able to. I told him that my old prescription worked better (even though it was slightly blurry) and it did not cause my eye to strain to the point of bleeding like the one he prescribed. Regardless of what I said he insisted that his prescription was correct. Even though I was not pleased nor did I think he knew what he was doing for my eyesight, I demanded that I have my prescription since I paid for it and was made to wait the last time. Ultimately, if you care about your health, your money, and your time don't go to Dr. Devine. He doesn't know how to prescribe the correct lens for your problem and isn't willing to correct anything that hurts or is...
Read moreWhen I arrived at the Target Optical location, I noticed there was only one staff member working, who was assisting a guest. I patiently waited in line, along with two other individuals. Unfortunately, I was a few minutes late due to parking difficulties.
Shortly thereafter, another staff member arrived and inquired whether those in line had appointments. I confirmed that I did. However, by the time she located my paperwork, it was already 10 minutes past my scheduled appointment. She informed me that the doctor would not see me because I was late, although she mentioned that he might accommodate me if another patient did not show up.
I decided to reschedule my appointment instead. It was puzzling to me that, despite being present and waiting for my appointment, the doctor would refuse to see me. Additionally, I believe this office accepts walk-ins, which raises further questions about their scheduling policy.
Having recently moved from Memphis, I have consistently used Target Optical in the past, but this particular location appears disorganized. Based on this experience, I have decided not to return. I hope that improvements can be made to their scheduling and customer service processes...
