I consider myself a Pizza connoisseur, and with this review, I'm not grading for high expectations for a good pizza, I'm trying to be fair by comparaing to other fast food type pizzas and grading on that type of style pizza scale, like for example, papa johns, domino's, pizza hut, jets, and etc. I've tried Blaze Pizza a few times now and every time is worse than the other food wise. The pizza was like eating rubber charred cardboard, best way I can explain it, it had texture of cardboard with the wood friend charred taste, but with the consistency of a light rubber, also mine was cold. There wasn't many ingredients on it, so I mean it was a super simple pizza to make. Which I was trying to replicate a Margarita pizza since they're wood fried, red sauce, sliced Mozzarella, pepperoni, basil, oil & oregano. Super disappointing for a wood fried pizza. Being that this is the 3rd or 4th chance I've given them I'd say that was my final straw. Oh and for the desserts, the brownie was good but the smores pie sucked. It too was like eating even thicker piece of rubber mainly because of the marshmallow, so I figured let's just heat it up again, maybe it's cold, but then it was like eating glue you couldn't chew it or swallow and just kept sticking all over my teeth, eventually the sticky part goes away from the mixing of the Graham cracker being broken up, but then it's like you're chewing hard gum, it never breaks up, so you swallow it whole like your swallowing big piece of gum. As far as service goes, they were friendly, so no compliants there. I don't know if the food is bad because of poor preparation or poor ingredients, but the atmosphere isn't bad, it's average, friendly workers, but I wouldn't watch a football game there, not that kind of place, but if you're taking your family with kids their, they probably would enjoy it, being that they can fully customize their pizza with many ingredients to choose from. Plus kids aren't very picky so I can see them really enjoying the experience so much they are just overly excited about their custom pizzas they don't care about the taste. So again unless brownies become scarce where you can't buy them anywhere else but Blaze Pizza, I don't see myself ever returning. 3 strikes (maybe even 4) and you're out. It's very possible that I've just have had bad luck with this place, and maybe they're better than I'm giving them credit for. I've talked to couple friends about it. One said the samething as me has never had a half way decent pizza from here, and another say they love it, it's one of their go go spots.
I decided to give 2 stars, which it was 1 one at first then I decided to change it, I thought that's not fair just because my food experiences have been poor doesn't mean it's bad for everyone. I see alot of people who gave it a positive review, so again there's a chance I'm wrong and just been unlucky all 3 or 4 times with with my food. Plus the people were friendly and 1 stars should be saved if something gross happened to your food of something seriously unsanitary. Plus I still managed to eat all my food (mainly because I was super hungry) even though each bite had to be washed down with a soda, so it's not like it wasn't edible, so the fact that I still ate all of it I had to bump up the...
Read moreWe go to this location every time we go to Turkey Creek area, and Mr. Angelo (manager) has always been there and made sure everyone has a great meal and experience.
When we went in tonight, it was a little before 8 PM. There was one table of customers in there, with nobody in front of us in line. We watched four employees put on gloves and huddle to decide who had to wait on us (We could hear them).
The entire point of the restaurant is that you can see them put exactly what you want on your pizza and they ask if the amount is good. Yet I kept having to ask for more ingredients (for instance, I asked for more sauce when only 3/4 of the crust was red, the other portion was completely dry).
Once the pizzas were cooked, the toppings did taste great. It's a shame the crust was burned on the edges and inconsistently burned/cooked correctly on the middle of the pizza.
When I went to fill our drinks, 3 employees were standing near the drink area, all staring at their phones. The dispenser for tea wasn't there, so I asked if they were out. One of the employees looked up and said "yeah". When I asked if they were making more, another employee looked at her watch and said "nope". They had 2.5 more hours of operation.
I had to go to three napkin dispensers to get a full napkin. Two of the dispensers were stuffed so full that a napkin couldn't even be taken out in one piece; they just shredded apart as I tried to get one.
At one point during our meal, I counted 8 employees behind the counter, yet there were still empty drink machines and napkin dispensers with shredded napkins in front of them.
In a time when there are so many options to spend money on a meal, this was really disappointing. As I wrote at the beginning of this review, my experiences in the past have always been positive. But tonight was very disappointing.
I hope this was just an off night, but with so many employees on shift, and so few customers in the store, this should have been...
