My fridge was dying and so I had to find one quick. Sears didn't have anything in stock and pretty much everything would take a week or longer to be delivered. At Lowe's, I was ignored for almost 20 minutes (along with 5-6 other customers!) and when someone came to help me, she showed me fridges that were way beyond the measurements I've written down and/or was out of my price range ($1500 or less).
So, I left Lowe's in disgust and figured I'd give this little shop a try after no success at Sears or Lowe's. I've driven by it countless times but never stopped in. I'm glad that I did as I was greeted by a friendly and personable salesman and within 20 minutes of finding the one I liked that worked with my measurements, preferences and budget, I was out of the store with a fridge to be delivered the next day. Wow. The prices are a tad higher for some things than a big-box store, however, other items are in line or even comparable to what a big box store would charge.
The service was great. No high pressure sales tactics (like pushing extended warranties) or an apathetic, don't-give-a-care, lackadaisical attitude either. Their selection is pretty big for a small shop. They carry Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid and GE, which are all great brands that you can't go wrong with. You won't find the glitzy, glamorous stuff made by popular smartphone manufacturers, but for me, that was okay because I didn't want either of those brands because of their reputation of severe reliability issues and the fact that since I've always had Whirlpool appliances in the past that have served me well, that's what I'd prefer to stick with.
The gentlemen that did the delivery was professional, on time and meticulous. They hauled my old one off and made sure everything was level and that there were no leaks from the ice maker and water. He even took the time to show me how to clean the coils, replace the water filter cartridge and how to work the digital temp control.
Because of my experience, I will be returning for a freezer for my garage and a new front loader washer and dryer set in a couple of months. They've got a...
Read moreTried to buy local. Knew what we wanted (washing machine), brand and model. Wife had done extensive research and found the model that would be best for our purposes. Called first, got information about the model. Salesman tried to 'switch' at that point from a top loader to a front loader. Told him we knew what we were looking for. Gave model # and at no time did he mention that they did not have that model on the floor (it was listed on their website, with a sale price). Informed him we would be in the store that afternoon to look at the model. Asked about delivery dates, he was vague, but not wanting to waste any more of his time, figured we would ask again in store later that day. Went to the store on Martin Way, got a different salesman (who acted like a used car salesman). Not very well informed on the product. Told us that the model we were looking for had a model change and it was, surprise, surprise, more money. We informed him that the model we were interested in was listed on the website (showed them a screen shot of their site with the model and model # and price). He then went to check with his 'manager'. Model was not in stock, nor did they have a display model. It became clear at that point that this was nothing more than the old 'bait and switch' tactic. We've tried to purchase here before, but with the same results and ended up walking out. We knew what we wanted, were intending to purchase, but the experience put us off. They wanted more than double than anyone else for delivery, it did not include new hoses and they could not give us a firm delivery date. Our old washer quit working so we needed one ASAP. Was told 8 working days from the warehouse and then several more days after that for their delivery to our home. No thanks. We found the same model on line, for the same price (actually lower, when the dust settled), as it included free delivery and haul away, hoses included and an extra year of warranty included by the seller. How does the saying go, fool me once? McKinney's we will not be...
Read moreI have no issue with the 5 appliances that I purchased for a cottage remodel in January 2021. They were apartment size appliances they all had to be special ordered except the refrigerator, so the delay due to Covid were expected. My issue was the communication and customer service or I should say the LACK OF from my sales person Rich. Everything was great when I ordered the appliances in January 2021 and paid more than the required deposit to order the appliances. My issue was that I had heard nothing from Rich until I initiated a call to him in late March asking for an update and status of appliances ordered back in January. I had asked Rich if emailing would be a better way to communicate? His response was "We don't have email it causes to many problems". I then continued checking in every other week for an update since he failed to contact me, which seem to annoy him. He became more rude and curt with each phone call. until finally the date of the delivery he asked "What Do You Want" on the phone. I told you we are to busy to call and let you know the time frame of your delivery. I asked to confirm the items that were on the truck for delivery. His reply was "I told you they were on the truck". Well guess what? One of the items was not on the truck and not on the delivery sheet. The delivery person was the only person that communicated with an apology and assurance that the remaining item would be delivered as soon as possible that day. It was delivered as promised. If you want customer service don't use Rich Duffy. Appliances are appliances! I wanted to keep my business local and ended up with the worst communication and service ever. 1 star for customer service and if I could give zero...
