Anish Gauri, President of Grand Appliance, has stepped in and assured me that my experience will be used for training and sent me a very generous Meijer gift card to have a celebration of my new kitchen. He responded to an email on a Saturday within an hour. I'm updating my review to 3 stars, hopefully the local Grand Appliance does better in the future. Response to Business Owner saying installers were authorized:
Installers may have been authorized after watching videos (per their comment), but please explain how when:
Installed Steam Oven without pulling down water line and drain line, pinching them off.
Did not install water line and drain line per directions. They did not mount to cabinet wall with clips provided.
Installed Steam Oven without removing plastic film over drain hole, when asked what the metal disc on my counter was, the response was, "I don't know", if they knew what they were doing they would have known that this was the drain filter and you have to remove the film to install. Instead they baked the film into the oven by doing the initial bake off. I found it in the installation guide and realized what they had done.
Installed Steam Oven where frame was distorted and not even.
Installed Dishwasher without turning on the water. I ran a test cycle and informed them of the error. They removed the dishwasher, turned on the water and reinstalled the dishwasher. After they disappeared without telling me they were leaving, I found that the door fell to the floor when opened and the racks all came flying out because it was not leveled and adjusted.
Vent Hood- Told me they couldn't install because it didn't have a plug available, I read the manual and informed them that the hood came ready to hard wire and the pig tail provided was only provided in case of an existing plug.
Vent Hood- Told me they couldn't install because the blower was missing. Informed them that the blower was a remote mount per the order and had already been installed by my contractor (Grand will not install blowers).
48" Refrigerator- Was slamming the top back and forth, saying the top wasn't matching the frame of cabinets, top was sticking out. Bottom was inside the frame, I pointed out that they could adjust the feet to level it, they then were able to install.
Cook Top- Left the plug cord hanging inside the cabinet on rails, every time you open and closed the drawers it was pinching the wiring.
Wine Cooler- Installed door handle on hinge side of cooler, then installed the panel over glass decal, had to remove panel to remove the decal under the panel.
Beverage Cooler- Door hinge adjustment- door slammed and knocked base plate off.
The two installers may have been "authorized" by Grand, but this should make anyone looking at buying from you seriously concerned since you consider them qualified.
Do not purchase from Grand if you need them to do installations!! Completely remodeled our kitchen and purchased a complete suite of Subzero and Wolf appliances. Chose Grand because they were "Certified" to install, which is required in order for the full warranty to be in effect. First installation team had no clue how to install the appliances I purchased, they screwed up the steam oven, dishwasher, wine cooler, cook top and vent hood that required another team to fix. The steam oven had the water line and drain line incorrectly installed plus they did an initial bake off of the factory coating while tape and plastic film were still inside the oven. I asked if they had installed these appliances before and they said that they had on the refrigeration but not anything else. I responded with, "I thought you were certified?" Turns out these two were not fully certified, they had only watch 4 hours of videos on refrigeration. After this the team disappeared, not going over anything or having me sign anything. After multiple emails and phone calls, got their "expert" installation team scheduled, they did know what they were doing and it took them several hours to fix all the issues the previous...
Read moreGrand Appliance is a must if you want someone knowledgeable that invests in your wants and needs. I recently went shopping for a new refrigerator. I first stopped at Lowe's. Unfortunately I was ignored while in the appliance department. Then I went to Home Depot where I got help from a pleasant individual. Unfortunately he wasn't well educated in appliances and didn't seem to care if I bought one or not. I went a few other places where I had similar experiences. Lastly we went to Grand Appliance. I really didn't want to go to an appliance store due past experiences of salespeople being pushy and prices being higher. I walked in and immediately impressed by their selection and was promptly greeted by Sheperd. He spent time with me. Sheperd asked me about my wants and needs and was a wealth of knowledge. What I appreciated the most was his honesty. He didn't know the answer to every question I had and told he didn't know, but would find out. I also told him I wasn't going to buy that day. Sheperd didn't care. He just wanted to make sure I was informed and taken care of. Sheperd never once tried to pressure me into anything! It was truly a no pressure educational buying experience! Today I went back to Grand Appliance and bought that refrigerator from Sheperd. The price was the same as every other store I visited in town and even on the manufacturers website! They also have a great comprehensive extended warranty that we purchased as well. Sheperd is the guy! Thank you Sheperd for the best appliance shopping and purchasing...
