Let me start by saying that we frequent the En Lai restuarant off Teal road often and have never, in the 14 years we've lived here, had a bad experience ! Yesterday, we had a game on the East side of Lafayette & decided to stop for some soups on the way home, being it was a cold & windy evening.
The hot & sour soup was awful, mainly made of shredded carrots ! There were 2 chunks of what I'll call "mystery meat" at the bottom and that was all. It looked like only 1 mushroom cut into about 4 pieces was in the soup......the rest of the quart was broth.
In both quarts of wonton soup the wontons were mushy to the point of falling apart. I'm guessing they were made in the morning and had been kept warm all day, or left over from the day before.

Read moreThe food and portions are great, but the customer service is garbage. They open at 11, but they don't actually turn the sign on or unlock the door until 11:10. The inside of the building looks like it hasn't been washed since the Cretaceous period. The kid that brought the food to us, didn't even speak or anything after we said. "thank you."
Again the food and the portion size is great, but do not waste your time eating inside, just get carryout. Also, they do not have an actual drink machine and instead put cans of soda in a mini fridge, then you end up drinking the soda before your food even comes out.
Before anyone says, "well COVID." No no no, this is just simple service and has nothing to do with the number of...
Read moreI always like to ask what the favorite dish is when I try something new. When I asked this question, they responded, “You mean most popular?”, to which I said, “No, your favorite.” Her recommendations did not disappoint. The biggest surprise were the Mei Fun noodles. We are used to the thicker Chau Fun noodles, and were not expecting the thinner rice noodles. This turned out to be our favorite dish. It reminded us a little of Filipino pancit, with thinly sliced vegetables. We ordered it with beef and it would have been great with or without meat. We also ordered the black bean chicken which was exactly what I wanted. We will try the Hunan chicken next time, another recommendation. Really good food with a...
