I really wanted to like this place since it represented a big event in my life, which was buying an engagement ring. My initial contact went well. The staff SEEMED nice and they helped me out really quickly. Well, everything went down hill after that.
I originally went in to get a cushion cut diamond ring and the staff there assured me that the ring I bought was cushion cut. After I proposed and the excitement died down she mentioned that she liked the ring but that it wasn't cushion cut. I was very surprised because I relied on the "professional expertise" of this store. I was devastated that I didn't get her the ring that she wanted. After doing some research on the cut types I realized what they sold me (and what their appraisal said) didn't add up at all. I took the ring to a gemologist and they said that the ring was definitely not a cushion cut, it is a cut cornered square brilliant diamond.
At that point, I went back so hopefully they can make it right. He would not budge that it was a cushion cut when it most definitely is not. I finally sent the ring in to GIA (which is the go to for assessing rings) and guess what? It came back "Cut Cornered Square Brilliant" cut. Not only that but the GIA appraisal came back with a lower clarity grade than what they said they sold me!!! Lastly there is strong florescence detected by GIA, which was NOT disclosed to me on the sale of the ring! The clarity grade and the strong florescence takes down the value of a ring greatly. I went back one more time to see if they would just give me back my money... Nope! he wanted to buy it back for 25% less than what I bought it for so he could profit on me twice!!
Stay away from this place because I know I will!! There are plenty of jewlers in the area that have great customer service and ethics. Go to any of them over this place and make sure you buy a diamond that has a GIA...
Read moreTook four watches (well over $2,000 value altogether) to have batteries replaced. Asked about two of them being dive watches and would like them "tanked" and checked for a proper seal. The owner looked at them, told me he would only "tank" them if he did the service on them, and that for $10 each he'd replace the battery but they're be no guarantee. So let me get this straight.....you have a "tank" for which to test water seal after opening the back of a watch, but you won't do that for me because all I needed was a battery and not a service, and you also want me to let you change the battery on my $600 dive watch with no guarantee....? I guess he didn't notice the $10K Breitling on my wrist either. Do you self a favor and take your watches and jewelry to someone who actually appreciates the business instead here where he acts like you're putting him out by bringing it to him. 4/16/14 - As an update I took my watches to Watch Tech and they were great. Found out that my dive watch was actually broken. Ended up buying a dive watch to replace it. Looks like the "happy owner" here at this establishment missed out on a $500 sale due to his rudeness and general disregard for his potential clients. Also check their reviews on yelp. More befuddled people wondering why this place is still in...
Read moreAfter getting a $5.99 watch battery replacement coupon in the mail, I took my watch in to get battery replaced. Replaced the battery on Sat. Less than 24 hours later, watch stopped working. I've read other reviews where others took thier watches in to replace batteries and less than a week later, watch stops working BUT they're more than willing to charge you $85 to "service" your watch. I'm taking my watch to have battery replaced elsewhere to see if they have a scam going on here. Are they putting in used batteries in so you go back and have to get your watch serviced? Has anyone else experienced this??? ---UPDATE--- I took my watch into another jeweler in the area and had them look it over. They first noticed the gasket was sticking out of the edges and that the battery cover wasn't correctly replaced. Then when they opened it, they pointed out that the small metal battery holder piece was mangled. What's frustrating is when I initially watched them remove my battery for the $5.99 replacement, it was in perfect condition. So... with all of that being said, I wouldn't trust this jeweler with your expensive...
