Sango Sushi Restaurant — Restaurant in Laguna Niguel

This place is great. I moved here from NYC and was looking around the area for just regular sushi. Everything around here was fried, Mayo covered sushi. I don’t scope out authentic Japanese sushi when I’m craving sushi but I just wanted sushi that wasn’t basically carnival food or gross. Many of the places in the area had questionable fish quality. This place checks all of the boxes. Cooked sushi if you want it, raw, innovative sushi, or just basic rolls. The price is also the best in the area. Always something on special. Lastly, I am extremely sensitive to fishy sushi. I’ll eat raw fish but not cooked fish because fishiness is the only flavor my palette can’t handle. Nothing here has ever seemed old or room temperature. The texture of the fish, the temperature, and the taste are all on point. The last place I ordered before here was twice as expensive and had a slime texture on every piece of fish. We only order here now. Great staff too. I tried visiting this place for the first time yesterday after finding it on google. I arrived at 7:45 due to happy hour not starting until 7:30 and the restaurant advertised as closing at 9 on google. When I arrived I was informed that the restaurant actually closed at 8 (scribbled in sharpie on a small paper on the door) and the cashier told me they would be unable to take my to-go order. I explained that online it says 9 and the cashier told me that they are aware but have been unable to change it. Despite knowing this could cause confusion the cashier still told me he was unable to accommodate the 2 rolls I wanted. I asked when the order cutoff time was and he told me it was at 7:45. Went to order a party tray. The last time I ordered was last September and the price has gone up over $30 in that short period of time. Upon paying for it to be picked up tomorrow, the lady said they charge a mandatory 20% gratuity. I asked what that was for and she said because, it is a party tray. It’s not being delivered. It’s being picked up. If the cost of a party tray is 20% more than charge that in the actual price of the cost of the tray and not force a consumer to add a 20% gratuity for something that is being picked up. she gave me no options so I canceled the party tray, got a Refund and went...
