My partner and I were out hitting the town on 9/2/14, celebrating 10 years of dating, and the next day we had planned to elope. Earlier in the day we'd been shopping most of the afternoon trying to find affordable getups for our wedding, as well as rings, with no luck. We were a little bummed to say the least. As we were headed home from the bars, we stumbled across this place a few minutes before midnight. What caught our eyes were the rings on display, so we tried some on and the employee was very helpful getting the right sizes for us. She asked if we needed anything else, and we jokingly asked if they had dress shirts. She took us to the basement, and we were amazed they had anything like that, let alone the huge and well organized selection of pretty awesome stuff! Another employee took our measurements, and helped us pick out jackets. All told, we got jackets, bow ties, dress shirts, some nice jeans, and rings for a tiny fraction of what we would have paid at the mall. They stayed open a little late just to help us out and wishing us well. We were blown away! Thanks so much for all the help, Beatnix! You gave our special day a pretty awesome...
Read moreWe came to Beatnix specifically to shop for vacation outfits and accessories, and left completely shocked and disappointed. While trying on a jacket, it came apart—and instead of treating us with respect or understanding, the general manager accused us of intentionally damaging it. We were then forced to watch a video of ourselves trying it on and were told we were responsible for the damage, even though it happened during a normal fitting.
We understand the store may deal with difficult crowds in Boystown, but we came as paying customers who’ve supported this place in the past and even recommended it for its unique and fun items. To be rudely accused, made to feel like criminals, and then told we were banned was beyond disrespectful.
The staff member who helped us try on jackets was clearly annoyed to even assist us and was vaping in the store—creating an unwelcoming atmosphere from the start. Management handled the situation terribly and made us feel completely unwelcome.
Very disappointing experience all around. We would appreciate the opportunity to speak with the owner directly, as the current GM clearly does not understand how to treat...
Read morei can’t believe i’m writing this but the people need to know about the rude dude who runs beatnix. as a first time customer i was curious about what they had. i found their stash of vinyl records in the basement and attempted to purchase 4 of them that i was really excited about. he took one of them and literally tossed it to the side and said “i’m not selling you that” …like what??? this particular record didn’t have a price tag (the ONLY one on the shelf that didn’t) so i figured they’d bargain with me like any normal business would—charge me whatever, i don’t care! but he still refused when i asked. why was it even on the shelf then?? he then walked away after i bought the 3 records i was ALLOWED to buy and told someone else to get my stuff for me that was being held behind the counter when i walked in. i feel bad for his employees if they’re treated the same way. what a toxic guy. i...
