I love Target. It's a big box store that really isn't. Being called a "big box store" and lumped in that "discount bargain store" category is not a good thing, in my book. And that unfairly labels Target...
No longer a young big box store, Target is all growned up with it's own brand and identity firmly intact. Wanting to be different and seperated from the bargain shopper genre of stores, Target has made great strides. They've gone off independently charting its own course and market. Unfortunately, the brands name is also strong related to DISCOUNTS and it may take time for Target
Target always has inexpensive, stylish, trendy products that absolutely rival high end department stores and shops like Pottery Barn, Restoration, etc. And they've always collaborated with famous, high end designers. It used to be "knock off" type products. Cheap versions of the overpriced real deal. And I was okay with that. But I am more happy to see the direction Target has taken over last couple years, and this is what sets this store apart from Walmart, Target has moved beyond replicating others popular items and has emerged as their own incredibly Hot brand themselves over last few years. They don't need to make their stuff look like West Elm or Williams & Sonoma... Target has developed it's own brand... With super star designers lines made specifically to be sold at Target and this stores' genius in-house creatives, Target has eeked out it's own little niche... With prices still reasonable but not rock bottom cheap (thank goodness), Target is the high end, big box store sitting comfortably alone in between Macy's and Kohls. And that's absolutely perfect for my picky consumerist habits.
The products sold by high end, brand name Macys, Pottery Barn and such are horribly over priced and cliche.
Shopping at discount stores with hoards of discount seeking Americans by the bulk at WalMart or wherever is not my cup of tea.
The Target experience hovers in between those levels with clean, roomy stores, beautiful product displays, and helpful employees offering a no hassle shopping experience. The store sells the BEST STUFF! Colorful, boho style, minimalist, earthy scented, authentic, products with interest and texture and good vibes...
Everything you basically need or want is available. All at affordable prices. beautiful, cool, sophisticated products at appropriate prices. The price point is honestly perfect bc it keeps people away. Some think it's outrageously expensive and others think it's still a big box store with cheap knock offs. Both aspects are wrong.
Target's come a long way baby. What is as impressive as the Brand's up to date, fashion sense is the sense of confidence and transparency they exude. Target seems real. What you see is what you get. It's a brand that I feel I personally know even though a brand is an abstract idea and notva human to get to know, technically.
They keep it 100 with the vast, but distinctive markets they serve and that's awesome. They should be damn proud of what they've become and unabashedly flaunt it. But they don't. And that's also impressive.
As far as shopping in general goes, I prefer to shop on line. Target is the only store I love to go to and will go to in a heartbeat spending an inordinate amount of time "shopping" and perusing their goods.
So this review is for Target Brand really. But this store in Lakeland Highlands would be the one in the Google maps here and the one I'm referring to in this long writing.
Target is where I prefer to shop. I respect the brand, their strength, their energy and momentum.... Positivity all around. They do business well.
If you go... enjoy the Opal House line - fun, intriguing, artsy, boho products or Nate Berkus' minimalist masculine stuff. It's all good and worth the time and money, imo obviously.
Thanks for reading.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would like to start off with, I love Target and value them over Wal-Mart.
However, this experience has me looking for another place to shop entirely.
I went to Target to buy two phone plans and two sims cards. I was walking to the electronics department and another customer (white lady) is walking towards me and at this time an associate is walking past me as well, so the other customer approached the associate and asks if he could have someone help her in electronics for assistance because there was not an associate available. He tells her he is the associate for electronics and he had to take something to the front and asks her what is it she needs, so she begins to tell him she needs AirPods. He asks if she wants the 1st or 2nd generation and she informs him that she didnāt know the difference and he explains the differences to her. I walk around pick my plans and I walk around looking for the sims cards. He tells customer one where to stand to pay and I said, āOh we stand on this side to pay,ā out loud and not really to no one. He then demands me to go to the front and pay and to take my product to the front for assistance. He was assisting her because she has an electronic purchase, so I asked where were the sims cards? He tells me what I see in the store is whatās available. My sister says letās go somewhere else because I donāt like his tone or demeanor. I asked her was she getting racist vibes too and she says very much so as we are black women. I put the items down and then said I am here now I will pay for them because I donāt feel like going somewhere else (I should have gone to Best Buy) and I proceeded towards the front. He then runs behind and tells me that there is the sims cards and grabs one and gives it to me and apologizes to me and says I misunderstood him. He was a tall white balding man with longer white hair on the sides. I never got his name because he didnāt allow me to approach him. I spent $113 with this company to be treated like trash because of the color of my skin. The...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been a loyal Target shopper for years and have always loved the store for its great customer service, clean atmosphere, and friendly staff. Unfortunately, my recent visit has left me deeply upset and questioning whether I will return again. During checkout, I approached a self-checkout register that had no signage or indication that it was unavailable. An employee named Tito was standing near the machine and immediately made a rude and unwelcoming comment: āOut of all the registers, you had to choose this one Iām standing at?ā I was confused and asked if there was something wrong with the register. He replied āNo, but you could have picked another one,ā in a tone that made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and targeted. I calmly responded that if there was no issue, then his comment was unnecessary. To my shock, Tito became aggressive and said āI can say whatever the hell I want to say,ā and continued to speak to me in a hostile and unprofessional manner, trying to argue with me instead of diffusing the situation. Even another customer behind me was visibly shocked and commented, āYou donāt treat customers like that.ā I felt humiliated, disrespected, and discriminated against ā all over choosing a register. Itās beyond unacceptable that a Target employee would treat anyone, let alone a loyal customer, in such a degrading way. After a long day of work, I simply wanted to check out and go home. Instead, I was made to feel like I didnāt belong, like I wasnāt welcome to shop there. Target is known for being inclusive and customer-focused, but this experience did not reflect that at all. I hope this incident is taken seriously so that no one else has to feel...
