I was there when the store was being set up. When store completed we were all supposed to find out if we got Full time positions. Yes I made a full time position and was one of the FEW kept on. BUT--you were on probation to prove yourself even after we were there working our butts off, long long hours and on Saturdays were supposed to be off by 8:30, forget that, you NEVER seen 8:30. It all about Recover-Recover,which means the store has to look like Grand Opening clean BEFORE you go. I was so excited about working this store, due to I know a little about All the departments and could really help the customers. I loved it. Well after Jeremy said we would get our full time pay when put in the full time positions,it NEVER happened. Still had to prove yourself even after setting the store up. I can see now why they offer good pay and benefits,NOBODY can get there, because when you get close to getting it,they find something to write you up on and then boom you are out the door. I watched it happen to many of the people that started with the store. He is also OBSESSED with the floors and OMG--no scuff marks allowed. Don't push boxes on the floors..OMG. Have a tizzy....You also have to unload the trucks and then you have 24 hours to get merchandise on shelves or get written up. After you helped unload the BIG trucks. Nobody to help you in your dept so you basically have to unload when done, jump right in and hopefully you can get things out before the 24 hours is up. I would come home from working all over the store and could barely walk, when you were done with your boxes, you help other depts get their stuff out and you recover merchandise all day long. It is NOTHING MORE than a GLORIFIED "HOUSEKEEPING" job that you really don't get the money for. All management stand upfront and WATCH everyone and don't care how busy it is. Talk talk talk, they won't help customers. They have to make themselves look important in front of register, when nobody really cares. They want to be helped and not stand in lines for a long time.Makes you feel weird with so many of them STANDING up front watching all the customers like that. You guys need to find something to do. Set up displays or something. Jeremy(store Manager) has LOST a LOT of GOOD people because of this happening. Hobby Lobby has lost my respect. Jeremy you had so many people who really did a Great job and you let them walk, including me. You will not have the kind of workers you started with,it will only get worse.OMG and Kathy Co-manager,she is so phony...She has a control issue. I used to be excited about this store, but they have totally lost it. It's all about the money and...
Read moreThe loss prevention personnel desperately need training. I got racially profiled in this store. It was insulting and embarrassing. I’m a middle aged black woman attorney dressed professionally because I was in court that morning.
I love to knit and crochet so I love yarn. It was around 130 pm on a Monday and I decided to see whether this store had different inventory from my usual Puyallup store. My first time in this store. I brought in one shopping bag because you don’t get free bags in my state. As usual, I became infatuated with some new colors and designs of yarn and my shopping bag filled up quickly. I decided to grab one of their canvas bags for sale and that was quickly filled up with yarn as well. I had no purse. I was walking around the store with two shopping bags full of yarn and I was nowhere near the front of the store when a police officer approached me riding a bicycle inside the store (of all things) and he turned on his camera letting me know I was being recorded. Another officer approached me from behind—I guess to preclude my athletic and daring escape with yarn flying in my wake. Yes, I was absolutely shocked. “Me!” I exclaimed with hand to breast. Apparently I was doing things “a little differently” that caused the police to be called. It was over in about 5 minutes after they ran my idea and discovered I’m the most boring individual in the entire state if not the planet. My problem is unless the law has changed, you have to intend to permanently deprive the store of its property in order to be charged with stealing. I exhibited no such intent. No concealment and no attempt to leave without paying, so why was I targeted?
If a police officer asks you to identify yourself, you should but they have to suspect you of something first. In my state there is no “stop and ID” law so the burden is higher. I didn’t check to see if Lakewood has a “stop and ID” law but I know Washington State does not. I cooperated because…well, I wasn’t about to end up on YouTube. Now, what to do? I waited a week before posting because I don’t make accusations in anger and haste.
The officers were professional and looked truly embarrassed after they ran my ID. But did they have a duty to tell store security that they were wrong and needed much more before they could approach a shopper?
Bottom line is I have a duty to bring this matter to the attention of Hobby Lobby and the Lakewood Police Department. Therefore, it’s...
Read moreA friend and I went in to pick up a Cricut Maker 3 that was supposed to be on sale for $379.99, only to be told by the employee at the register that it was no longer on sale. We told him about the signs in the aisle showing the sale price of the item and the guy looked into his drawer at the current promotional items, of which the Cricut was not among. My friend had taken a picture of the sale sign as proof that we weren't trying to pull a fast one, and after showing it to him, he called the manager to verify that there was actually a sale for the item. The manager lady approached us and said the sale had already ended and that someone just forgot to take the signs down. As it turns out, the sale had actually ended on the 31st of August and the signs were still up on September 5th. I get that the sale was over and we should have probably looked a bit harder at the sign, but all we got was a very blunt and very rude "Sorry" and the manager walked away without honoring the deal for their mistake. Pretty crappy service all around. As a retail business, that's bad form. If you make a mistake, you make it right. We walked out without buying anything and they lost a pretty hefty sale. Might not be a million bucks worth of merch we were buying, but it was gonna be over $400 when all was said and done. I normally hate leaving these kinds of reviews but, I'll be damned if customer service hasn't gone down the toilet in recent years. Wasn't looking to make a scene or a fuss, but it was like a teacher dismissing a student or something. That's what it felt like. They just couldn't be bothered with...
