DIVINE UNITY INTERNATIONAL FOODS LLC African store — Local services in Laurel

I have been to this store 3 times total. Although the customer service was not good, I didn't think anything of it until this last time. When I entered the store, the cashier was on the phone. I tried saying hello but she looked at me and didn't respond. I went ahead and looked for what I wanted to buy. When I came to the register, I had a question about the product so I asked her. She told me to have her finish her conversation on the phone and then get back to me.

Fortunately, I understand the language she was speaking so I was able to hear what she was saying. To say that the conversation was a "casual" conversation is an understatement. This lady had me stand in front of her to actually chat with whoever was on the other line about NOTHING (remember I understand very well the language she was speaking). I was already in a hurry when I entered the store, and then to have this kind of unnecessary delay.

Although I could have walked out and gone to the other store a stone throw away, I exercised patience and actually stood there for about over a minute to have her finish her conversation.

What baffles me is her insensitivity to her customers and her apparent cluelessness about customer service. I wanted to speak with her heart to heart about her attitude but I didn't have time, and I also knew that she probably wouldn't have taken it well given her attitude the few times I had visited there.

I don't think I will go shopping at the store again. I would rather go somewhere where my business is appreciated and the customer service is at least STANDARD!

ADVISE: If this store wants to stay in business, customer service has to be reviewed and improved. The only person that was nice was one of the butchers in the back.

FYI: If there was anything like NEGATIVE 5 stars, I would give it. This store doesn't deserve any...

I would give it a less than 1 star if I could. The lady who owns this shop or she just happens to work there is nasty. How is someone going to come spend money in your store, and you can’t even greet them? When it came to telling me what my total was, she still couldn’t talk, not even a thanks, see you next time. FYI lady, your store is conveniently located in Laurel, where there are other stores with great customer service. I’d step it up...

I had a good experience when I visited this shop. First of all, I had been looking for a place to get Golden tree chocolates from Ghana and most of the stores did not carry any. Unity store has a few. The gentleman in the store was also polite and served me quickly. I was out of the store in 5min. There is free parking in front of the store if you need it.
