I have started to write this review several times and stopped because I didn't want to be unreasonably vindictive. But I will not be shopping here again and I think the reason is a legitimate one for other thrifters to know.
3/3/22 I was shopping here with my infant daughter. I tried some clothes on in the fitting room, and when I exited, the store manager saw us come out. I had my shopping cart with me in the room because I had my baby with me. She was in the cart and was too little to sit on the (filthy) bench in the fitting room. Seemed pretty reasonable to me. However, the lady told me that I wasn't allowed to have carts in the fitting rooms. I hate confrontation, so I didn't argue. I just said "Okay" and headed for the check-out. A minute later, she followed me there. She stood behind me for a solid five minutes conversing with another employee about her outfit. When I left the store with a bag of PURCHASED goods and my daughter, she was on the phone, and watching me. I heard her say "... Had a cart in the fitting room..." I wondered in what world that was worth calling somebody to chat about. I know she was watching me as I got in my vehicle and drove away, because a couple blocks down, I was pulled over by the police and told I had been accused of shoplifting. I'm still angry when I think about it. Of course I was able to show them my receipt and they agreed that there was no reasonable reason to suspect or detain me. They told me the store manager was the one who called. This lady SAW me check out. For crying out loud, she stood behind me chatting about her outfit for five minutes. She wasn't worried about me shoplifting or she could have said something to me then. She knew I checked out and paid like any decent customer. All I can figure is that she was using the police to harass me for not following her highly debatable store policy. (I take a shopping cart into the fitting room at Deseret Industries all the time, and nobody bats an eye. But at the Goodwill this is a suspicious activity?) I wish I had gotten her name, but I refuse to go back. This would be appalling behavior for any store manager, anywhere, but is especially sad to see in a store called "Goodwill." A store that depends on the donations of people like me for their very existence. They should have more respect for their customers and for people in general. There are quite a few reviews of this Goodwill store with experiences that show similar lack of appreciation and respect for customers, especially in the last few months. This is actually what made me decide to leave my review even though it's been awhile since the incident. People shouldn't be treated this way. I would hope that those higher up would look seriously into this store and its management. Until then, I'll stick to thrifting at Savers and...
Read moreKim the managerâs customer service and attitude was terrible! I happened to find a suit coat and pants that were an exact match as a full suit. She would not allow me to try on the pants because it was 15 minutes to closing time. Apparently they close the changing rooms down 20 prior to close..... I could see it if I had a cart full of clothes. I just needed to try on a single pair of pants. When I got to the register she would do nothing about the price as a full suit. So I got charged more because they didnât see it together when it got donated. She would barely look at me while she talked barely acknowledging my existence. Very gruff person. I didnât expect a big amount off. But full suits were on the rack from $12-$25. I paid $30 for the suit. I realize that $30 for a full suit is still a good price, but the $5 extra I paid would have helped me put gas in the tank. Anyone shopping at a thrift store is hard up for whatever reason. So when there happens to be a mistake of separating a suit and they wonât adjust the price..... and they are rude its just bad service. A simple 20% off on just the pants saying that thatâs cool you found a full suit would have made me happier. Now the pants were $5. 20% off is only a $1.00. But she came to the register and told me no she can do nothing and walked away. As she walked away I told her I would have not bothered to even ask for the discount if she would have allowed me to try on one pair of pants.... Kim seriously needs some customer service training. I added a picture of the suit to show it IS a matching set not just...
Read moreunbelievable experience Went here for a quick shop around approximately 30 minutes before closing. My friend tried a few items on in a fitting room that was OPEN and a three minutes before their stated close time, we were approached by an employee saying âWe are closed, and you canât be in the dressing rooms.â I respectfully apologized and let her know we would head up to the front momentarily. She then verbatim said âThere are signs on the door stating you canât use the fitting rooms. Can you not read?â I let her know Iâm perfectly capable of reading and once again apologized as we didnât notice the date had already passed. We began walking to the front and then she approached her coworker and began talking about us and again said to her coworker âThose girls went under the dressing room door⊠and I asked her âCan you not read?â I turned toward her and let her know it was extremely disrespectful to assume anyone cannot read in which she replied âItâs disrespectful for you to say that to me.â I told her standing up for myself is in fact not disrespectful and that if she wants to talk poorly about customers she should wait until they leave. This employee lacks morals, respect and communication skills and she should NOT be working a customer facing/customer service job. She is a poor representation of the company and delivers a subpar experience to customers. Her coworker even stated she has been a problem for a while. The rude woman was middle...
