The Pizza Place — Local services in Layton

Dive pizza place with pretty good pizza when it's hot and fresh.

I chose to check this place out because it had pretty decent reviews. I went during lunch and had their buffet. It's a pretty good value with a caveat: the pizza wasn't always fresh.

When i arrived around 12:30 pm, I didn't see any pizza on the buffet at all. There was one other party in the restaurant who appeared to be finishing up and were just chatting. As I was deciding whether to stay or go, what seemed to be the owner, removed a pizza tray with various different slices from the oven and placed it on the buffet. I decided to try it out.

The aforementioned slices weren't that great. It seemed they were older slices being warmed in the oven. These slices were a little tough, dry, and overcooked. As I sampled a few, another person arrived and then an occasional few slices of fresher pizza appeared. The fresh slices were pretty good. Much better than the likes of Pizza Pie Cafe. When fresh slices or various breadstick-type options were placed in the buffet, i would sample them. They were all good.

The restaurant could be a little more squeaky clean but definitely not worse than a highly regarded Thai place on Main street that I wouldn't take my dog to.

It seemed to me the owners are, understandably, trying to keep their food costs down. There wasn't a lot of traffic and who wants to waste food anyway, but if you go when there are only a few people expect a similar experience. I intend to try a carryout order and give it another go with a pie fresh...

Worst experience of my life. The first thing we noticed was the smell. It was pizza with an undertone of sewer or animal feces. We thought it was from outside, so we ignored it. The edges of the front counter were caked with black grime. The worker's uniform was greasy and stained. We were hesitant at this point, but hungry, so we ordered. We went to get drinks, and the drink machines were sticky and caked with something white. We finally sat down at a dirty table, and one of my friends went to use the bathroom. He came back immediately and told us we had to come see. The toilet in the men's bathroom was partially clogged and full of...yeah. The walls had black smeared handprints on them. We cancelled our order and left, completely nauseated. We reported them to the health department and called the owner directly. The owner made excuses, saying he's running on a shoestring and his family doesn't always have time to wash uniforms or scrub the...

I really loved this place I’ve lived in Utah 20 years and I’ve always seen the place but I’ve never gotten pizza here. Finally I decided to try it, and I was not let down the staff is extremely kind and efficient. Helped me see my options and I made sure to give a good tip. Pizza was divine and I would recommend to anyone this wonderful place. And the ranch that they gave is also so great th worker said I don’t know his name but he said that people drive thirty minutes to get the ranch I see why now. Well yes little ceasers is right next to them however little ceasers is out of my mind now I will always go to them when I feeling pizza. I ended up calling in to tell them thankyou for the wonderful food. 10 stars...
