Let me preface this by saying that if I hadn't experienced their inattentiveness and dismissive attitudes first-hand, I'd never believe the review that I'm about to write. In fact, I still have a hard time grasping how the company can justify allowing it to continue...it's like they can't possibly know just how bad it really is. I've spent tens of thousands with RH, and will continue to spend there (ordering by phone or online), but that's only because I love their product. If this gallery were my only impression of RH, I'd never spend another dime with them out of principle.
At first they're the nicest people you'll ever meet, but I've learned the hard way that once you're on the hook and they have your order, you'll be lucky if anyone there will call you back the same day, if at all...and that's when I'm actively trying to buy furniture. If you need their help AFTER the sale, good luck with that. The first time I bought something through the gallery, I waited through 3 separate deliveries and 6 months before getting it. When I called them for help, I kept getting the run around...only one person could help me, and they were never in when I called, and couldn't get them to return my call...or they would call me back and tell me they were "looking into it", just to shut me up for a week or so. Of course, nothing ever happened. After 2 months of that nonsense, I got fed up and asked for a manager...he literally said he was too busy to talk to me, and he told an employee to tell me to call the 1-800 number if I didn't like how I was being treated. 4 months later, after being desperate enough to contact the CEO directly, I finally received the shelving unit. They not only apologized, but they refunded my money and let me keep the shelf. That was very cool of them, and that is why I still do business with RH as a company - but still no apology from the gallery...apparently apologies aren't part of that whole "luxury experience" they're supposed to be peddling.
That was the first time. After being taken care of by the CEO's office so well, I gave the gallery a second chance. I ordered another $10k or so worth of furniture, and it wasn't long before they were ignoring my emails and wasting my time again. One of them had me take a bunch of photos, and send over a bunch of info, only to email me 4 hours later to tell me she was too busy, but would have someone contact me tomorrow (that was my day off, tomorrow wouldn't work)...and of course, she didn't even bother forwarding them my photos. They consistently act as if their time is more important than yours, so if you want to buy from them, you have to do it when it's convenient for them, apparently when they're not too busy helping someone more important.
Even worse, the management there defends an downplays it. Instead of an apology for repeatedly wasting your time, they call it a "miscommunication" and then act like you're being absurd when you get fed up enough to mention it. I've never had a place of business make me feel more insignificant, and I have half a home full of their products...imagine how important you'll be if you only buy one or two items.
And then there's MXD, their furniture delivery company. They've delivered here at least half a dozen times, and they have yet to show up on time or complete a delivery without breaking an item, losing an item, or bringing the wrong item. There is always confusion and delays scheduling a delivery, so never believe the delivery date they tell you at the time of purchase.
After the second demeaning experience out of my only two experiences there, the only thing I'll ever go to that gallery for is to look at fabric swatches (that's one job they can handle). Unless you have $100,000+ to drop on home furnishings in one fell swoop, I wouldn't expect the "luxury experience" they talk about. If you do have $100k to drop all at once, then good luck - you're going to be playing a lot of phone tag and dealing with a lot of "miscommunications" if you work with...

Read moreIt seems like RH gets many negative reviews. But I must say, I have had three great experiences in Leawood, KS over the last 6 months!! We bought a bedroom set and dining room set in our first purchase for a new home. Tori helped us with this purchase, and Design Team provided a schematic to help us visualize the sizes for both rooms. Very helpful!!Products were all great and delivery perfect.
Then we ordered a coffee table that we found on sale once we moved in! Same experience in both product and delivery!
Today I got my two cabinets for next to the fireplace. Awesome products and delivery again was great and on time. Love the soft close cabinet doors and all the shelving is actually screwed into the cabinets for a more secure shelf. Great packaging on the glass cabinets, too. Katy snd Cathy helped us with the last two purchases. Go see them! Thank you...
