They made my dress shopping experience amazing! My stylist, Becca, made me feel so comfortable and special today!
7/26/2024 update: I’ve been contemplating if I should write this as I had a wonderful experience purchasing my wedding dress… However, I feel people should know and understand the alterations department is subpar and need to change my review rating.
I took my dress for its first alterations appointment and came out of it with such high hopes! I said about the possibility for a back panel or ‘modesty’ piece for the open back and the first seamstress said it was doable with taking off the bottom and making the piece. She stated that if they didn’t have enough fabric that they would call me prior to the next fitting.
Fast forward to next fitting, we were running into some traffic and I called ahead stating that we might be 5-10 minutes late and even clarified that I was coming in for the second fitting and to place the modesty piece. I was with my mother in law and my mom was on FaceTime with me. We get there and we had a different seamstress. I put on my dress and my mom on FaceTime asked about the modesty piece and we all felt the seamstress was cold/ bitter with us. She look at me and asked what I was even talking about. Here, the prior seamstress never wrote about the piece being made. So she decided to go in the back to investigate.
In that time I went to try to find my wristlet for my train, I barely turned to look and the one ease stitch snapped. She came back and stated that the there was not enough fabric to even make the piece. I then mentioned about the stitch snapped and when she went around she was almost annoyed with me and then yanked the other stitch out while I was still in the dress with little warning. Then said she would fix it and I must’ve ‘bent over too far’! Am I not allowed to move in my dress? As a plus side bride, it just hurt a little for how she was speaking to me and made me not feel beautiful in my own dress.
Tbh it was kind of all a blur from here because I was just a little taken aback from how cold someone could be in such a profession. The manager (I assumed) came in with her at some point apologizing and suggested we go to find extra fabric at Joann’s Fabric and come back and they would make the piece. (Oh mind you they were going to charge me a rush fee until the manager said they would waive it given the circumstances) Then kinda just left us with this information. I was overwhelmed and bawling in front of my mother in law. We go to Joann’s Fabrics and they said this wasn’t the first time they’ve done this to a bride. We ended up not finding a fabric to match my dress and decided to go with a veil instead. We ended up going back to David’s Bridal and told them our plan. We got a veil which they did give a discount for… But I just felt uncomfortable and felt like I was the problem and a bother to them for being there. We got the ease stitch fixed in which she made sure to tell me it was double stitch this time to ensure the stitch. We left with my dress that day…
Fast forward to our wedding day: they put my dress on a cardboard bustle which I assumed was to keep the shape… however when the day came I felt stretched out at the top of my dress and caused me to keep pulling up my straps from being loose. Then not even completely through our ceremony, we were doing the unity sand ceremony and SNAP… ease stitch snapped AGAIN. At this point I didn’t even care and enjoy the remainder of my night with my husband. I just want to make future brides aware of this situation as I felt they were always pushing for great reviews but when we ran into the hiccup they never asked for a review then. I just don’t want another woman to ever feel they are never beautiful in their dress, because in that moment in that alterations room… I felt big, ugly, and an inconvenience. But the second my husband saw me, all that worry went away. I just hope David’s Bridal does better and can show...
Read moreI bought a dress from here in total excitement and thinking that I was in a bridal shop I would not have to inspect a brand new dress. I learned the beads were coming off of my dress drastically. While inspecting the beading And the strings all over the front and back That were falling apart we noticed a very dirty line in the armpit area as well as several other stains Deep inside the dress. I was offered to wipe off the dirty grungie parts as if I would want to wear someone’s dirt on my body on my wedding day. I let the store know that to have the BRAND NEW dress cleaned it starts at 190.00. Although cost does not matter, I do not feel that I need to spend that much money on a brand new dress from a bridal shop and have to have it cleaned before my wedding. Later, I was told they would call around and see if they could find my dress in my size. 4 hours later I call back for an update and I’m told they didn’t have time to make my calls knowing I’m at crunch time for my wedding. I’m then lied to and told my dress is sold out because it was a older dress to find out during my own research the dress was pulled due to beading issues and there was one dress near by that could not be sold because it is in such poor condition for the same reasons. I agree after hours of back-and-forth With the manager to go in and look at other dresses Although I have already spent hours searching for the one that I wanted. Due to the fact I was told they will see what they can do with their seamstress and put the beading on with no guarantees my dress would be on time for my wedding. I Found a dress that could possibly be a replacement If we could not get the beads back on In time for my wedding, the associate argued with me And told me that we will not put a dress on hold because somebody could come buy it tomorrow And we need to sell our dresses. I understand they need to sell the dress, but they could also accommodate me for a day or two to see the streamstress. However, staff shift changed after all day back-and-forth with a horrible staff assistance, and within five minutes of meeting a new worker she thankfully saved my entire wedding day by taking 5 extra minutes and understanding this was a big deal she found me my size in a dress the previous staff told me basically to bad about. My entire day was wasted and stressful due to poor customer service until this girl working night shift realllllly went a extra mile for me. I have purchased 8 bridesmaids dresses and now two wedding dresses from this store and personally I would not recommend ever visiting store 197 - in Altoona Pa unless Sophia is working. Thank you Sophia for your help if I could rate her assistance separately I would. Sadly the rest of the staff WAS TERRIBLE ! I will remain letting all brides know at the many bridal shows I attend and people all over with this experience, weddings are stressful enough the dress is everything!!! In a wedding and do not want others put in my situation. Please look elsewhere or inspect your dress to its complete...
Read moreI couldn’t recommend this location enough! Everyone was so welcoming and had an answer for all of my questions. I honestly hadn’t gone into the store with the intention of finding my dress same day, but more so I could get a better feel for what I like. I didn’t make an appointment but they were more than happy to accommodate me and my best friend.
Again, everyone was wonderful and helpful, but Julia, who helped me try dresses on, she really stood out. She listened to what I liked and didn’t like, explained in detail their loyalty program, payment options, and stuck to dresses within my budget. She showed me a few dresses she felt I’d like (once we narrowed that down) she gave her honest opinion and was super respectful when I needed zipped or buttoned up, let me know each time she was coming into my dressing room and Julia made it easy for me (and my insecurities) through the entire process. They made sure to include my best friend in choosing too.
I ended up finding THE dress and we’re 99% sure we found the dress for my Maid of Honor too. I’m not doing a whole bridal party, so I didn’t take advantage of the free swatches that were offered as well. So, do know that’s something that may be super helpful for a bride who looking for bridesmaids dresses too. Another thing that I also appreciated was that nobody was pushy or insistent and didn’t make me feel like I needed to leave with a dress on order and a down payment made. I am absolutely certain that I’ll be doing those two things in the near future though because I’m sold on the dress/price of the dress and the service! Thank you again for making such a huge decision an easy and...
