So disappointed that this place is not the quality place I hoped for.
I made an appointment to establish myself as a new patient at the UCHealth Lone Tree Primary Care clinic as insurance changes made it necessary to find a new Primary Care doctor after 27 years with the same outstanding physician in Highlands Ranch. I followed the proper steps to get my "e-check in" (extensive health/family health history) filled out the day before. The computer acknowledged that I had completed it, along with all the e-consent forms, and that it had been sent.
Dr. Richard Altman was punctual, and was excellent at "gathering facts and data." That's the only good thing that I can say about him. He was abrupt and sarcastic, challenging the excellent care I had gotten for the previous 27 years. He was rude when I said I had filled out the "e-check in" forms -- all he could say is "I didn't get them" (could he have checked with his receptionist?) He concluded his visit with looking me straight in the face and saying "I'm an on-time doctor" (I think the implications were his expectations that I be an "on-time patient"). There's nothing wrong with that, but it felt like a far cry from "I'm pleased to meet you, or I look forward to helping you with your concerns," or anything that would have made a patient feel less awkward when switching Primary Care docs for the first time in 27 years. I felt no sense of genuine compassion or caring. He was simply "doing his job."
Following my visit, I asked the receptionist (Samantha) about some follow-up information that Dr. Altman said he would give me. She said she would email him to check that. The following business day, she called and left a message saying that it was on the Visit Summary which they had supposedly given me (but didn't). She also said I could find that in the "My Health Access" portal, and to call her if I had any questions. I called back to speak further with her, and they refused to put me through to her until I got upset and insisted on speaking to an Administrator. Then they put me through to Samantha. (But should I have had to push that hard just to get to speak with the same person who called me a half hour earlier?)
P.S. I did find the Visit Summary in the "My Health Access" portal. It was insulting, abrupt, and presumptuous; and failed to include the word "possible" or "potential" in some of Dr. Altman's pretty dogmatic conclusions.
I'm grateful to have found another Internal Medicine office since that time which is accepting new patients. And please be sure that this time, I was looking for words like kind, understanding, and encouraging along with words like...
Read moreIf I could give a zero star I would. I can't emphasize enough --DON'T GO HERE! I went last April for a Well visit with a Primary Care doctor at the practice. Thought she looked nice and had new insurance so just chose the practice from the website. Spent 20 minutes at my appointment where the doctor asked questions and I answered, then she did a quick physical and when asked if I had recently had blood work done, I responded no and they took a few vials of blood. Next thing, I get the breakdown of costs from my insurance company on an Explanation of Benefits: $304 for physician, $1361 for Hospital misc. (I think the basic CBC blood work?) $270 Second Physician bill, so charges of almost $2000 for a quick well-visit (??) After some back and forth with insurance, whittling down the bills, I still owe about $300 for my well-visit. They wanted to call it an "establishment of care" but I never returned...in fact decided not to get a mammogram with them as I assume that they would gouge me for that too, when that's supposed to be a covered appointment like a well-visit!!! I went to a different care provider later in the year and did not receive outrageous bills like this office does. I have followed all their bogus procedures (requesting medical records/pursuing it with billing and insurance) to get this corrected and rectified and they still refuse to do anything. Bottom line (straight from the office manager) is that you cannot get a well-visit as your first appointment and so unless you want to pay an astronomical fee, find somewhere else. I can see the reviews here and on YELP and I'm not the only one frustrated with this blatant money-grab. MY RECOMMENDATION- GO...
Read moreDO NOT GO HERE! So I am a healthy 27 year old and just needed a regular yearly physical that is supposed to be covered at 100%. When I call to schedule my first visit they tell me I am required to have a consultation with the Doctor first then the second visit will be my yearly....I agree, but I am a bit suspicious since this has never happened to me before for any other Doctors visit. When I get the bill from them for the "consultation " it is $500. Of course I call my insurance and they say they dont cover consultation and I call the Doctors office and complain to them that no one told me there would be a charge for this. They do not care and I pay it. I go and get my physical and the Doctor is sweet and the staff is fine. But not so amazing that Im going to pay thos kind of money. I asked them about scheduling my daughter for her yearly and I ask the lady on the phone if she has to have a consultation first as well and she says yes...... (she is 10 years old and healthy) I tell the lady I dont want a consultation just a regular visit for her and she basically told me thats my problem. I speak with the manager and I explain to him my experience and how I am so disappointed in this place...and that I am not paying a 500$ consultation for my daughter. Anyways to sum it all up they like anynother corporation want to take as much money as possible from you. Extra visits for no reasons....extra charges. I did also go to there dermatologist and what some other people said on here is true they charge extra fees.....for everything they can think of. AGAIN DO NOT GO TO ANY OF THERE OFFICES....STAY AWAY FROM ANY UC HEALTH...
