Visiting Practical Magicka in Long Beach, California, was one of the most unsettling and unpleasant experiences I have ever had in a healer’s shop. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt heavy, dark, and deeply unwelcoming. The store’s energy was far from the mystical charm one might expect—it instead exuded an oppressive and almost sinister presence that made me want to turn around and leave immediately.

To make matters worse, Maria, the salesperson on duty, was shockingly rude and hateful. Her demeanor was cold and condescending, and she treated me with an air of disdain that left me wondering why she’s in customer service at all. What truly crossed the line, however, was overhearing Maria gossiping maliciously about a customer who had just left. Her remarks were venomous and deeply unprofessional. Witnessing such behavior in a space meant to foster community and goodwill was honestly disgusting.

This store does not feel like a safe or welcoming environment, and Maria’s appalling attitude only amplifies the sense that this is a place one should avoid. What Practical Magicka claims to be offering is completely overshadowed by its dark energy, lack of warmth, and outright hostility toward its customers.
