I got an STD here.
Simply Thai Deliciousness
S T Noodle Bar, from the people that brought you Sweetee Thai (hence the ST), is an LA-like hipster Thai eatery serving up flavorful authentic Thai cuisine close to the airport & city college in Long Beach. My belly screamed Thai food, so I decided to venture to S T Noodle Bar for the first time.
Lunch specials offers great bang for the buck, but I already predetermined what I wanted - the khao soi (medium heat, default chicken with beef an extra $1)
A warm embrace in a bowl, the khao soi consisted of mild curry, soft & crispy egg noodles, coconut milk, pickled mustard, green & red onions & bean sprouts. After adding all the accoutrement, including all of the chili oil, I dove headfirst into a savory both of heaven. The egg noodles were soft with a slight bite, the beef giving a tough texture to contrast with the rest of ingredients. The crispy egg noodles also added crunch, until they soaked up all that rick coconut milk curry broth. Not looking like a formidable foe, the dish proved quite filling & took awhile to consume. The heat level was perfect for my preference. Not enough to dull my tastebuds to the point where I couldn't taste anything, but spicy enough to make my bald head perspire and my underboob sweat make it look as though I was lactating. A tremendous dish & a must get.
Service was good. The women were hospitable and quick. Tables, including a long communal table, are available. I was sat in the best area in my opinion, the front "porch". Several windows made the "porch" seem like I was dining al fresco, with cool breezes enveloping me as I polished off my bowl of khao soi.
Parking is rather tough, with street parking & a few lots in the back. I lucked out and found a spot on Lakewood Blvd., in front of a dental office. Try going during off hours, if possible.
The unisex restroom has a urinal with a small monitor on it. Unusual, but I guess it's great entertainment as I tinkle. Although, being a non-flushing urinal, it didn't smell kosher.
ST = Scrumpious Thai food. S T Noodle Bar is a great Thai restaurant in a city swarming with Thai restaurants. I'm intriqued with their papaya pad thai, and perhaps will have that on my next visit. But, how can I not get khao soi, since it was so delicious? Tough decisions, but decisions that I relish having. Thai food, done well.

Read moreCame here to eat dinner with family and it was a terrible experience. My daughter who obviously is 11 months old squeals to communicate with her dad and I because she obviously cannot speak yet. In the middle of our meal, the waitress decides to tell us, "The couple left right now because your daughter she scream too much. So they move somewhere else. Just want to let you know." First off, what do you all expect? She isnt even a toddler yet. This isn't a fancy restaurant. If your restaurant isn't family friendly, then put a placard out front saying so so that you don't get customers like us that has alot of mouths to feed.
Secondly, we were given our bill to pay once we've finished eating. We paid and she tried to hand my husband the change and he says to her, "Keep the change." and she proceeds to have the audacity to say, "Keep the change? This is not enough for us. This isn't 10-15%." My husband was already going to give more on top of that. What was left was probably $3 and a few cents. He asked her if she has change for $100 so she happily went to get that done. 1)She already assumed that was all we were going to give. 2) She literally demanded more money from us as their tip.
We are never coming again. Go to Sizzling Wok. The BEST Thai food AND employees and patrons are so nice! They are not greedy people and are very understanding people when it comes to kids.
We ordered: Thai Boat Noodles, no flavor. Had to add pickled Jalapeños and the pickle juice for flavor. Pad See Ew, very flavorful. I would order this again if the experience wasn't terrible. Sprite, literally taste like they didn't clean their machine. Thai Ice...
Read moreI had been here before just a party of 2 and had very good service and the food is delicious. Last night I wanted to show off the place to friends and it was a party of 5. They first sat us in a rush. And with no menus. They took our drink order without menus. And after our drinks were on the table is when we received menus. It was about 730 didnt seem they were that busy. But maybe more than 3 ppl in a party throws them off. That was the service. The food is another story, that was delicious! We had fried rice, pad Thai, and a couple soups. At the time to pay it would of been nice to know that a party of 5 gets automatically 18% tip charge... I don't think I saw it on their menus called out. We dont mind paying the tip. But I didnt considered our party being large. And after the service we got 18% should of been for excellent service, we were ready to leave 15%. I know its a good place from my first experience. So I will give it another try in...
