One thing I noticed is most of the other reviews say, "first off" and they all pretty much sound the same. Makes me questions the legitimacy of them. My review of Reach Out thrift store. I went in to Reach Out right after they re-opened with all new staff. They still had the $6 bag but they also added just as many racks with "regular" prices not included in the bag sale. I searched all the bag racks and nothing but ugly, out dated, stained clothes. I then went on to housewares, wow talk about expensive. I could buy the item new for less. I found a comforter I liked but it was super expensive for used, I asked the lady at the cash register if she could come down in price. She stated, "No its a good price", and I told her I could get one new for that price, she then told me too, ""go buy it new then!" She also made a few more rude comments so I put the comforter back and walked out. Tried the store out again months later, walked in, and no one greeted me and store was a mess, looked at clothes and nothing anyone would want. Stained, old, tore, dirty clothes were on the bag racks. Employee's must be taking all the good stuff home with them. Shelves were in disarray, floor was dirty, kids toys strewn all over store. Does anyone pick up or straighten up? Maybe if they were not all talking at the register, paying no attention to anyone the store would look better. None of the sheets, towels or other linens were folded. Nothing good in this section either, what was there was good for rags only. Prices way to high for used stuff. At this point I said "never again" and left. Reach Out used to have great clothes at great prices. I was always greeted coming in the door, store was clean and neat, never once seen people gossiping at counter before. I do not see how they make any money now. What a terrible decision to change staff. Please bring back the nice and professional staff you had before. Don't waste your time, unless your in need of...
Read moreI've changed my 5 star rating to 1 star because over the last year things have changed a great deal, and not in a good way. Read to the end to make sure you get the entire story...
Old employees who treated you like family are gone, new employees are not as friendly or helpful.
The store has been rearranged and is no longer warm and inviting.
Prices have increased (except for occasional sales they have to draw people in as they realize they are loosing business from all the changes).
There are less and less new items on shelves.
I don't know why these changes were made, but I will no longer shop there and many I know have stopped going there too. We now go to Goodwill in Warrenton because His Supper Table across the street is not great either (same reasons: uninviting, unfriendly, high prices)....
Oh, and here's the kicker: More than one person has said the new management (upper management or owners) is bad mouthing customers. I've heard they said they didn't think higher prices were a bad thing because if the tweekers and druggies spent more at the store they'd have less money to buy drugs. They've been heard to say their customers are mostly drug addicts and on welfare. Not only do they insult all of their customers with this attitude (if they're on welfare or not), but they insult anyone with a drug addiction who is trying to get sober. I don't know who these new owners are, but they should be run off the peninsula.
UPDATE: The new manager responded to my review stating "the owner is the same" but I just found out there is not one single owner, it's a board of a group of people (possibly trustees) and that board has in fact brought on at least two NEW members in the last year or so and that is one of the reasons all these changes are being made. So, the new manager is not being totally truthful here in...
Read moreI shop here ever since we went bankrupt and could no longer afford to live "new" - now we go there because we love the folks who run it and the volunteers who work there. I am bad with names, so forgive me to the staff, but if you are looking for ANYTHING clothing or household or craft, come here. The prices are beyond reasonable, at $5.00 for a plastic shopping bag STUFFED full. They will roll the clothing tight so more can fit in. I've gotten my last two wardrobes, both winter and summer, there, and since I lost 50 pounds, they can handle any size as well. Shoes are older and not in good shape for the most part, and I'd take off a star for that except I happen to like old shoes. Great place to come jabber and listen to community talk. Plus, guess where the money goes? To our...
