Honestly wouldn't even give this hotel the courtesy of one star. Such a HORRIFIC experience. We scheduled to go to the beach because I wanted to have my senior portraits captured at the coast. There is an annual run (hood to coast) that has every hotel and motel booked from Astoria to Newport. The 3-floor motel was very overpriced ($200), and when we checked in, there were 3 little boys running wild all over the motel. Up and down the elevator, running, screaming and being boys. We noticed they were right above us because of all the thuds and running feet booming across our ceiling. My mother is a very light sleeper, so we were concerned about the experience we were going to have. On top of all that, it was storming pretty hard. Gale force winds and lots of rain. The doors to the lobby were locked and they were forcing everyone to enter through the side passageway, which had a shower of rain cascading at the entrance because there were no gutters on that section of roof. When I mentioned it to the receptionist (later found out he was the owner) he didn't seem to care at all. Should have been our first clue. Trying to keep this short. The running boys were getting obnoxious. Again, no parents to be found. We decided to leave for dinner. When we returned, and were settling in for the night (around 8:30), the noise was constant. Stomping, running and we decided it was time to officially say something. This had been going on for 4.5 hours! We called the front desk and they said they'd call and say something. Half an hour went by and still nothing... We poked our heads out the door and heard a woman chastising the kids, telling them this was not a playground and they needed to be respectful of the other guests. My father decided it was time to call the front desk and let them know this was not the experience I was expecting to have at this motel, at any motel and be clear that they needed to deal with this immediately. We called the front desk and explained that my mom called half an hour ago and we're still hearing the kids running wild across our ceiling. This has been going on for nearly 5 hours now and you need to go up there and demand that they get those kids under control move them/us to a new room or I'm expecting a full refund in the morning. He told my father that he was not to threaten him and that he wanted me to leave the motel immediately. My father was not threatening him whatsoever, but making it clear what his expectations were and what he was willing to do if he did not deal with the situation at hand. He started talking over me and demanded that we pack up immediately and leave the motel. We were in shock and told him we'd be formally complaining to the management, he said he was the owner and that if we did not leave immediately, he'd call the police to have me escorted off his property. I started to ask him why and he hung up on me. So, my dad went down there to talk with him in person. My mom offered to be the mediator and talk to him first. She went down and he pretty much wouldn't even listen or engage. He told her she needed to leave immediately. When she came back, my dad left and walked into the lobby, and the owner began to scream at my father and provoke him in a fight. The manager was HORRIBLE. He was cursing and even pushed his own wife to the ground at one point. The police came, we explained what had happened, and there was nothing he could do although he tried to suggest some places for us to look, but also said that it was going to be really hard to find any place to stay. So, we decided to just drive the three hours home. We aren't even sure that the couple with the kids were even asked to leave. This was the classic "kill the messenger" situation. Now I have to wait another two weeks to get my senior portraits done because we had to drive back home at midnight. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. DO NOT, I repeat, DO...
Read moreMy boyfriend brought me to Long Beach for my birthday. It was our first time visiting the area. We booked our room here because it stated we would have an ocean view from our room. Plus, it's in the name of the hotel - Oceanview Inn at the Arch - so how could we go wrong?! The answer to that question is "many ways"! First, I have to say the room was cute and a good size. The location was perfect! We walked everywhere we wanted to go in town, including the beach. Now that we got the good things out of the way, let's get to the bad. When we arrived to check in the staff was very rude. Everyone has bad days, we moved on. Because of the pandemic they informed us that there wouldn't be complimentary breakfast and there also wouldn't be any housekeeping services. If we needed something to come get it from the lobby. They didn't stock the room for the amount of nights we booked, they only stocked it for one night. Due to the pandemic the lobby hours were 3pm-8pm. If we needed anything - like coffee, toilet paper or a towel we had to wait until 3pm! They did not lower the price of the room or give any type of discounts for any of these inconveniences. My first stop upon entering the room after a long drive was the bathroom. The first thing I noticed was the long women's hair all over in the bathtub. I then go to set my bags down near my side of the bed and find said woman's hair tie on the floor. My last stop was the large window facing the ocean, only to find out we paid for an ocean view room with no ocean view! Plenty of trees and grass and if you squint just right past all of that you could see a little sliver of what could be the ocean. It definitely wasn't a view to charge for! After a long day we climbed into bed to watch some TV before lights out and the cable cord was not even connected to the TV! The TV hangs so closely to the wall that it took us about 20 minutes to get the cord plugged in. I also couldn't sleep at night because the fridge made a very loud running water sound at all times. Not the soothing kind of running water sounds, but make you almost pee the bed running water sounds. It has been almost a week since our trip and my lower back still hasn't gone back to normal from the bed. I'm not sure it ever will. This room was way overpriced for what we got. We will not go back and do not recommend...
Read moreAvoid this hotel at all cost. They say the rooms are clean, but they're lazily gone through at best. The atmosphere their initially is welcoming and lax, but you soon realize that its laziness and likely poor management that gives the atmospher an altered ego. The room was not thoroughly cleaned, which is imperative during this covid pandemic, and with fresh blood still on the edge of the window sill. There was obviously a party or domestic issue that had occurred just prior to our acquisition of the room, and then rush cleaned to make available. Supplies in the room were extremely limited. Only 3 sheets of kleenex in the dispenser. A 1/4 roll of toilet paper. And the cheapest of pump soap in the shower. There were dripping stains of some liquid on the walls. Hand prints above the toilet indicative of someone intoxicated and holding barley holding themselves to urinate. Tons of shoe marks on the walls everywhere.
They say no pets on floors 2 and 3, but there were atl least 2 rooms with dogs on those restricted floors. One on the 2nd floor and another on the 3rd.
Large gatherings of extremely loud people were allowed to congregate right next to the rooms on the 1st floor, but directy beneath us. A well after midnight, but beginning at 10:00. And mind you this was during a weekday, not a weekend.
The hotel is too small for management to not be unaware of nuisances, or to be able to QC rooms post, or during, house keeping.
Going back I will add that they were quick to apologize and clean the blood, but it went no further than that. Should that have been enough? I personally would have assured any customer exposed to a potential blood born pathogen at the hotel I'm in control of that this issue will be discussed with cleaning staff and that measures will be taken to assure this never happens in the future. I wasn't looking for a discount, but you'd think that they would have at least offered another room.
To top things off I came home to a nasty cold bug and had to be covid tested. The results were negative, and I can't say that I contracted one of the other covids from there, but the lack of cleanliness leaves it open for...
