It makes for an uncomfortable shopping experience when staff are visibly bored and objectively disinterested in helping customers.
Below are conversations with different sales people that took place when I was attempting to shop at the store last week (there were 4 sale people present and it was not busy):
Senario 1:
After failing to get any attention at the makeup counter, I put 3 shades of eyeshadow on my hand and walked over to a sales person chatting with two other staffers.
Me: What do you think of these shades (for me)?
Sales person: Pretty?
The sales person barely turned to deliver this comment in an annoyed tone before resuming her conversation with fellow staffers.
Senario 2:
Me: I am looking for a light weight cream for my face.
Sales Person: I like Augustine Badger.
Me: That is a $200 cream. I would prefer something less expensive.
Sales person: Okay.
The sales person shrugged, stayed on her stool and continued applying makeup to herself.
Senario 3:
Me: I am $12 shy of spending $250 which gets me 20% off. What products have you liked this season? Anything you consider a must have?
Sales person: I know what I would like for me….I have no idea what you would like …….......there are gift bundles up front.
The sales person's tone was dismissive.
