24 Hour Fitness — Local services in Los Angeles

This review relates to an incident taking place back in October of last year (2022). At the time of this incident, I was already feeling iffy about continuing to visit this gym because it was usually packed during my visits.

Anyways, I usually left my belongings in one of their typical lockers and secured (?) the locker using my personal combo padlock. My belongings included my backpack, my wallet and my work clothes. This one night, I was only in the gym for 45 minutes. When I had returned to the locker room, I had found that the locker I had been using was inexplicably broken into. My backpack and wallet were taken with my work clothes being the only items left behind. Apparently, my combo padlock had been removed by bolt cutters (I found the busted padlock thrown away in a separate unused locker).

I went down to the front desk immediately afterwards. The desk personnel simply took down my name, number, list of contents stolen and asked me to call the manager next day. They had informed me that CCTV footage would be able to be reviewed without the presence of a police report or a police officer. It took me an entire week to get a hold of a manager. The manager relayed the instruction that CCTV would not reviewed without the presence of a police report or a police officer.

I filed a police report online a day after my stuff was stolen. The report had been barely approved back in December of 2022. Once it was approved, I printed a copy of it and left it with the member of the front desk along with a letter.

I have no idea who took my stuff or how they broke my lock but the gym staff really shocked me with how they handled the situation. I have not been contacted by gym management since the report was handed over to them. As far as I am concerned, this issue is never going to be resolved in the proper way.

Note to all current visitors: When putting your valuables in one of the gyms lockers, mind your surroundings. I'm pretty sure some a$%#*!^ was watching me while I placed my stuff...

Openly-hostile management obstructs member efforts to address problems, regards as "'harassment". Shoot-the-messenger attitude, cancel lifetime memberships apparently easier tha addressing problems.

Multiple messages to Corporate over course of several months apparently redirected to dysfunctional local manager and regarded as further "harassment".

Tiny showers where spray can't reach below your belly-button, Management making excuses about corporate not permitting "swivel" showerheads.

No hot-and-cold showers last 2 years. At times they've had hot OR cold, or hot OR warm, "either-or, no choice", switching randomly without warning.

No functional management to speak of. When they DO take calls, they can't seem to be able to finish the call. Unclear whether paying attention or if it's "registering". What little response so far seems more reaction and avoidance than effort to understand, address, help, or pass on to corporate.

Nothing gets fixed when maintenance amounts to lip-service and nobody seems to be listening to members anyway.

And what "management" there is, seems to be actively obstructing efforts to rectify corporate-level problems with WRONG TYPE "PRO" INSTEAD OF "CLUB" stretch cages. Their 'solution' is to remove cage altogether so nobody gets to stretch.

I recently rejoined 24 hr fitness (after a long time away) and signed up for one-on one personal training. I’m privileged to be paired with Zineb as my personal trainer for my fitness journey! I have been training with Zineb for a few weeks (approaching my third week) and so far, it has been such a wonderful experience! At first, I was nervous in how I would approach my trainer with communicating my fitness goals, but I had nothing to worry about. Zineb is kind, approachable and encouraging! When we had our first meeting to go over my fitness goal, she listened attentively and let me know that we can achieve the goals I have set for myself.

Zineb’s fitness workouts are challenging, but very fulfilling! When I have my one-on one sessions with her, if there’s a move that I didn’t quite understand, Zineb is always happy to show me again. If I am unable to do a certain move, she’s quick on adjusting it to make it a bit easier for me to accomplish. I have used TRX bands and have done HIIT workouts and have gotten the hang of it for the most part. The first week doing these workouts were difficult, but the more I experience these workouts, the more I enjoy them! She has just shared my meal plan and so am excited to continue my fitness journey!
