My visit to Sugar Nails at their Koreatown location was an absolute nightmare, and I feel compelled to share my unfortunate experience. The level of customer service provided by this nail salon was shockingly disappointing and left me regretting my decision to choose them.
I initially went to Sugar Nails last Saturday for a gel overlay dip, which was priced at a hefty $60. Additionally, they charged an extra $10 for the removal of the previous coating. After service, I ended up paying a total of $90, including a $20 tip. I must admit that I was initially pleased with the color and shaping done by Lois, the technician who attended to me.
However, my satisfaction was short-lived. Merely 24 hours later, the gel coat on two of my nails started to chip. I promptly contacted the salon to report the issue, and to my surprise, the assistant informed me that I would have to wait for two days until Tuesday for the same technician to address the problem. Given that I had an important engagement scheduled for Monday, I expressed my inability to wait and informed them that I would be visiting the salon in person.
Upon my arrival, I requested assistance, and they assigned Eric to fix the chipped nails. I must admit that Eric did a decent job with the repairs. Unfortunately, within the next 3-4 days, the gel coat on my right index and pinky fingers cracked. This was highly frustrating, as I had paid a substantial amount of $90 for what was supposed to be a brand-new set of nails, and I had already encountered two issues within just five days of getting them done.
On Thursday, I contacted the salon once again to schedule an appointment for the next day, as I desperately needed to repair the two damaged nails before the weekend. However, they informed me that it would cost an additional $20. Feeling compelled to have my nails fixed, I went ahead with the appointment. Lois, the same technician from Saturday, repaired both nails. However, to my dismay, she applied the incorrect color dip, resulting in my nails being mismatched in color.
I promptly brought this to the attention of the front desk receptionist, who consulted Lois about redoing the application. Shockingly, Lois outright refused and instead offered me a discounted price of $10. I was deeply disappointed and hurt by the lack of professionalism and customer service I encountered. I voiced my dissatisfaction, and Lois responded with an attitude, suggesting that I simply leave without paying, as if I was the one at fault.
Feeling utterly dejected, I left the salon, only to arrive home and discover that yet another nail, my left thumb, had chipped. At this point, I was completely fed up with the entire day, week, and month due to the string of mishaps. I cannot express my frustration enough and feel compelled to warn others against wasting their time and hard-earned money at Sugar Nails.
In conclusion, my experience at Sugar Nails was a complete disaster. The constant nail issues, poor customer service, and disrespectful attitude displayed by the staff have left me with a sour taste in my mouth. I strongly urge you to save your money and seek out a different nail salon that values customer satisfaction and provides professional service. I, for one, will be searching for a new salon to avoid any further...
Read moreEND to END : We had a wonderful experience.
You know, it's hard to get my boyfriend out for a (mani/pedi), I am a man myself. We usually go to Santa Monica or the west side for nail maintenance. Believe me when I tell you, this establishment DID NOT DISAPPOINT!
Sabrina was an extremely welcoming host. She was the person working the front desk and she remembered me from when I booked the appointment, which felt very personal in a warming way. They seemed to have a small window for us to make it in for mani/pedis for a same day booking, and she was happy to have us.
After Sabrina walked us in we were greeted by Kelly and YJ.
From the jump they were extremely friendly.
Kelly: She helped my boyfriend. She is very witty, and kind. A very nice person to be around. She was a comfortable touch. My boyfriend said the same thing about his experience, he said "she had the softest touch". His hands and feet looks amazing (so I can't complain).
Yujin (YJ): I really hope I get YJ's info correct, because I will be referring many people, until the next time I see her. A true artist in her form. She wanted to experiment with color, completion, and weirdly enough... SCIENCE. Caught my vibe from the jump, and really cared about my choices in color and creativity, while coaching but collaborative. (I ended up doing matte cat eye in a green/iridescent greenish, grey) , it is FIRE!!)
Sabrina was checking in and tending to us in the salon consistently. There was a women there who was. little impatient and maybe rude, but she Sabrina handled it beautifully and continued to make a great experience for her and everyone else.
We will ABSOLUTELY be back to see Kelly, YJ and...
Read moreI come from Canada on business every couple months and was recommended Sugar Nails a couple times by my hotel. I booked a nail fill and pedi and was excited to arrive, but when I got there the woman said I was late which I confirmed was incorrect on their end, as time was confirmed (so actually I was 10 mins early not 20 mins late). I was ok if we cancelled the 1.5 hot pedicure as long as my nails were done. She proceeded to do my nails and then complained I had 2 broken nails (umm duh that’s why I am here). She started complaining and making “huffing, sighing” noises like I literally just ruined her life. I asked her if there was a problem because I come from out of country and took an uber there and she said no then turned to her coworkers and started talking in Korean to them for several minutes, whilst making me so uncomfortable (like I don’t know what your saying). The entire time she was mad and making noises. Out of the hundreds of times I have had my nails done, all over the world, this was the worst treatment I have ever had from a salon.. wait, actually from any place I have PAID for a service. Errors in schedular happen, I get that, I even forfeited my pedi, so in actuality she would have got off even earlier that day, so there should have been NO issue. Sadly, I won’t be going back and suggested to the hotel not recommending...
