Let me start this review by saying that I LOVE FOOD. BUT.... 2+ hrs. of wait time to try AYCE Korean bbq is definitely not worth it. It was very frustrating. The inaccurate wait time estimates significantly extended our wait, which could have been avoided with better communication. This review factors in the wait time, along with the quality of the food and the service.
Hae Jang Chon definitely lives up to the hype when it comes to the food itself. They offer an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ experience for both lunch and dinner, with a wide variety of meats to choose from - beef, pork, chicken, and even some seafood options.
The side dishes were plentiful too, going beyond the standard banchan with items like corn cheese, kimchi pancake, and steamed egg. Everything we tried, from the meat options (including the beef brisket, short ribs, bulgogi, and pork belly) to the kimchi pancake and corn cheese, was delicious. They even have four different sauces to complement the flavors.
The staff was fantastic - super attentive and efficient. They cooked the meat for us right at our table, kept our waters refilled, and made sure everything ran smoothly.
Here's the thing, though - the wait was BRUTAL. We got there at 8 pm on a Friday night (party of three), and didn't get seated until close to 10:30 pm. In this day and age, it felt archaic that they didn't take reservations or even phone numbers for the waitlist. You just had to be there physically. To make it worse, they kept giving us inaccurate wait time estimates that kept getting pushed back further. It was frustrating, especially considering the place was packed all night with long lines.
So, the food? It's definitely a 4-star experience. The wait? Not so much. Would I go back? Maybe, but only if I knew I could get seated quickly or they implemented a more user-friendly...
Read moreHae Jang Chon is one of my favorite ALL YOU CAN EAT Korean BBQ especially while I am desired for BEEF TONGUE!!! I always keep ordering beef tongue if it is served at the AYCE restaurant, yes, I am in love with beef tongue, and Hae Jang Chon has unlimited high quality beef tongue which drives me crazy. I forgot how many times I came to Hae Jang Chon, but the only thing that impressed me is its price, which is from twenty something to now $43.99 per person for Dinner lol. I really love the good quality meat only for USDA CHOICE and prime meat. Beef tongue was soft, juice in a thin cut. I had them with soybean paste and garlic. The paste made the tongue rich and buttery. Total ordered 5 portions of beef tongue, so yum!! USDA PRIME STEAK was softer than I thought. Yummy and tender!! Beef brisket, which is the intermixture of fat and lean, was soooo good with rice paper. Beef belly was too fat for me and the rib finger was not fat enough(combine these two together might be better) . I would like to order a thick cut rather than thin cut pork belly next time. Side dishes were fresh and I really love the Korean spinach and fish cake side dishes. Steamed egg and corn cheese were nice choices for kids. Don’t forget to have your kimchi fried rice at the end. They put cheese on the top now(it did not have cheese before)!! The rice was a little bit spicy but tasty! Although it is an AYCE KBBQ, customer service was super nice and quick response! They took action so fast and kept an eye on our table. We did not need to ask for side dishes, they will directly refill right away!! All in all, quick and nice customer service, good quality of meat, tasty side dishes and meal, standard and affordable price. I highly recommend my friends and families to...
Read moreIf you’re on the hunt for an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ spot in Los Angeles that actually delivers on both quality and value, look no further than Haejangchon. Tucked into the heart of Koreatown, this place is no secret—it’s always buzzing with hungry diners, and for good reason.
The Food Haejangchon sets itself apart with its consistently high-quality meat selections. Whether you’re grilling up tender marinated bulgogi, thick slabs of pork belly, or juicy short ribs, the cuts are fresh, flavorful, and well-marinated. The banchan (side dishes) are plentiful and replenished often, and the kimchi fried rice cooked tableside at the end? A must. The grill is stone, not metal, which gives a nice even sear and a touch of char that elevates the flavors.
The Vibe It’s walk-in only, and you’ll likely be waiting—especially on weekends—but the energy inside is fast-paced and lively. The staff moves quickly and keeps the meat coming without missing a beat, even during peak hours. The service is efficient, not fancy, but you’re not here for white tablecloths. You’re here to eat, and eat a lot.
The Logistics Reservations? Forget about it—first come, first served. But the turnover is steady, and the line moves faster than expected. Valet parking is available and worth it, especially given how tight street parking can be in the area.
The Verdict At around $30–$35 per person, Haejangchon strikes the perfect balance of quality and quantity. It’s no-frills, it’s packed, and it’s always worth the wait. If you’re craving AYCE KBBQ without compromising on flavor or freshness, Haejangchon delivers every time.
Pro Tip: Go with a small group to cut down the wait time—and...
