I have lived here for a little over a month now and it has been a great experience. From the location to the amenities to the exceptional staff moving here has been one of the best decisions I've made since living in LA!
Quality:
The price-point for this quality of apartment in LA is great. If you are looking to find an luxury apartment complex in the heart of LA without breaking the bank, this is the place. The rooms are not much more expensive than the average place in LA, but the quality is much higher as it is a newer building and is ripe with amenities.
There is decent sound-insulation (which is a huge relief for LA apartments) so gone are the days of listening to your neighbors phone call or being woken up in the middle of the night by a sneeze from next door. You may hear the person above you if they decide to stomp around and drop heavy stuff, but other than that you can expect to live in peace.
The rooms are spacious by LA standards as well. Every time I visit friends in West LA (prime location) or Santa Monica, I can't help but notice how cramped everything is. Here my studio feels larger than 1 bedroom apartments in West LA and the 1-2 bedroom apartments feel much larger than their competition.
Staff:
The staff is truly great and friendly and they go above and beyond in helping you out in a timely manner. Alecia has been wonderful and never hesitates to help me with whatever I need. Through her I've had rather complex work orders completed in one-two days which is lightning speed compared to the neglectful landlords that are all too common in LA. She will drop what she's doing to help you with your needs and ensure that your living experience is as it should be. She's definitely been the most friendly and responsive "landlord" I've ever had - that is a huge difference maker.
Aesthetics:
The complex is modern and pleasing to the eye. Some complexes in LA only look good in pictures and then lose their charm when you see them in person. Avana looks nice all around. The interiors and appliances are super modern, sleek and very nice. They renovate each room after it's vacated so you don't have to worry about the mess of the previous tenant.
Amenities:
The garage parking spot(s) offered with the room price is a MUST in Korea-town. There is no parking in this part of town and many complexes don't offer any, making daily chores a nightmare. Here, it's free, as is laundry as there are in-unit washers/dryers which is a HUGE convenience. The pool and Jacuzzi are nice, along with a fitness center. A 24 hour fitness is right next door for those who need more in depth exercises. The mail room system is convenient and functional and they have a Package Concierge system which is GREAT. Packages are secured in electronic-locker type system so you can retrieve your package at your own time without having to worry about thievery or the need of a landlord for retrieval.
Location:
Korea town is an awesome place with plenty to do. The restaurant scene is legendary and it's all in walking distance from Avana. As mentioned, parking is a nightmare in this part of town so walking to and from (or short uber rides) is a huge plus to dining or night life experiences. West Hollywood is about 20 minutes drive away and DTLA is about 15 minutes so the location is great for events, food, nightlife, business etc. The only drag is if you frequently find yourself going to West LA / Santa Monica area. That can quite often be a 30 min drive and there's virtually always traffic heading in that direction, but other than that is an awesome location.
Bonus:
They have a great pet policy. There is a deposit for cats and dogs, but other than that the place is very "pet friendly" which is a huge relief to those with fur-babies in a city that is not known to be very welcoming to them in apartments.
Overall I definitely recommend this place and it is an exceptional choice for students and young...

Update: Still loving it here! The dog park has gotten better as well as now has better fencing for small dogs so they can be off leash and the vacant lot is being developed into what looks like shops, which I can't wait to visit. Tonight we had a new Oaxacan taco truck in front of the apartment and it was soooo good. We have had a few events like free ice cones by the pool and cinco de mayo that were fun and lots of people came to them. Management and maintenance are the best, very communicative, prompt and friendly. Nikki and Moriah are hard workers that are constantly looking out for us. Security is on the ball patrolling and addressing anything. The elevators always work, which is hard to do in many apartments because of how often they are used. The location of this place is incredible and we have had no issues with encampments or dangerous individuals. Parking is enforced effectively and my spot is always there. My air conditioning is consistently working and has given me no issues. The gym is often empty and has 4 people in it at most. I haven't used the pool or jacuzzi but they were popular on weekends over the summer. Mail is consistent and no issues with stolen packages. Great place to live in LA thanks to the mgmt and staff. Hpe to be here a lot longer.
Original: I looooove this apartment, it is the perfect find for us so far. Safer than the other places we looked in K-town, security is around, the apartment is larger than others in the same price point, appliances work well, lots of elevators, and most of all THIS PLACE IS SO PEACEFUL! I mean, don't get me wrong we are right on Wilshire so there's so street noise on occasion from louder things, but the residents here seems to be respectful of each other's needs and wishes. Everyone is so friendly. I can keep going: the cleaning staff does a great job in the building, utilities are easily set up, the grills and pool are clean, and management is communicative. If I were to state any drawbacks: the dog park over on the side has a lot of uncleaned poop in it usually, so you have to be careful where you step. Also, its back gate is unable to be shut and the bars can be gotten through by small dogs. But that's such a small thing compared to all the great things about this place. If possible, rent on the side facing 24 hours fitness on the top floor: it has the least street noise and avoids being above the dog park and the vacant lot next door. I also very much advise against getting a place above the dog park facing the vacant lot as it seems to carry smells on that side. I wish the owner of that lot would develop it because that side would be great if it faced a nice quiet office building or another luxury...
Read moreLiving at Avana on Wilshire from Dec 2022 to Feb 2024 was truly an unforgettable experience. It was such a unique opportunity to live in the heart of Los Angeles, especially as it was a lifestyle we knew we wouldn’t be able to experience again. The location itself is amazing—being in Koreatown means you’re surrounded by all the hustle and bustle of the city, but you can still have a peaceful place to call home. Our studio apartment was perfect for our needs, and for about $2000 a month, it was a great deal for the area. The space itself was cozy and functional, making it an ideal setup for our lifestyle. What made our time here even more special was that we brought our puppy with us, and she actually grew up in this apartment. Moriah and Nikki were the two staff members we worked with during our stay, and they were absolutely amazing. Both were incredibly friendly, always available to help, and just genuinely good people. They made sure that any concerns or requests we had were addressed quickly, which made our time there even better. The complex is very pet-friendly, and we loved seeing so many other tenants with their dogs. They even have a dedicated dog run area, which was great for our puppy to get some exercise and socialize with other dogs. The amenities were fantastic as well. The gym and pool were great to have access to. The lounge areas and clubhouse were always well-kept, and it was clear that the management took pride in maintaining the property. We felt very comfortable and at home throughout our entire stay. As with most urban areas, there were some challenges related to the surrounding neighborhood, particularly with the homeless population, but this is to be expected in parts of LA. The good news is that the complex itself felt very secure, and we never felt unsafe. There was a security guard patrolling the property at night, and the parking lot was gated and secure, which gave us peace of mind. Overall, Avana on Wilshire is an excellent option for anyone looking to live in Koreatown. The combination of a great location, friendly and helpful staff, and fantastic amenities made it a wonderful place to call home. We absolutely loved our time there, and it will always hold a special place...
