I cancelled my entire YMCA Membership because of the mistreatment and disrespect from the Associate Director of this location Lori Siegel. I was approached by someone in the menâs locker room while I was in there using an iron to transfer logos like Macyâs Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus to material for a product that I am going to send to the respective brands for permission to sell. At this point what I was working on was more of a hobby and arts & crafts not operating a business because at the time I was not selling what I was making. Someone named Paul came in twice about an hour apart. The second time he came in he asked âwhat are you working onâ I turned around and saw someone plain clothed with no ymca shirt, name tag or anything that indicated he worked there. I responded âI canât really talk about itâ because my product is patent pending and I donât talk about it with just anyone thats a member walking around the Y. Had it been an employee with a name tag or blue shirt I would have given a response. I continued what I was doing and he started yelling at me saying he worked there and heâs making sure Iâm not doing anything I wasnât supposed to. Maybe he thought I was copyright infringing but he said he needed to make sure I wasnât âdoing anything I wasnât supposed toâ, thatâs the first bad thing he assumed about me. Next he started yelling about my phone being out and how thereâs people who walk around naked as if I was filming them, the second bad thing he assumed about me. I told him he was making me uncomfortable. Then he started saying âare you even a member here?â At that point I had enough and I began packing my things to leave. He had assumed 3 negative things about me to paint me out to be a bad person. Mind you I am a black man denying his authority because he didnât have an employee shirt or name tag and there was no foreseeable reason for him to assume any of those things about me all because I wouldnât explain to him what I was doing. I truly believe he has racist views that came out in that moment in micro aggressions. As I leave I am yelling about how I was treated and saying Iâm never going back to this location again. As Iâm leaving I hear him say âmission accomplishedâ as if he had a goal to make me upset to where I would be kicked out or lose my membership. His name is Paul and the only reason I know that is because I spoke to a member services rep from there today who told me. As I said I am rewriting this review because the original got deleted. I will be writing this incident formally to his supervisors to let them know if he wants the respect of an employee he needs to look like one and have a shirt or name badge. He went to get a front desk staff person only after yelling those 3 negative assumptions. He should have went to get them beforehand. As a loyal paying customer of the ymca for years he shouldnât be assuming I donât have a membership. I see no other reason for him to make those assumptions unless he already feels that way about people that...
Read moreThis place has gone so downhill in so many aspects. I was a member for over 20 years and been going to this location since it opened. A year ago I stopped going because of the hours and traffic. I went today because I needed a steam room due to complete voice loss. Whatever good staff they had was either not there or doesn't work there anymore. I let the front desk know I couldn't not speak and they made no effort to proved an accommodation, not did he inform me that the steam room closed in 15 minutes so I worked out a little bit only to find out that when I tried to go in the steam it was closed. The two females were incredibly rude and disrespectful. Of course I understand they have a job but there is never an excuse to speak to someone that way especially since I could not speak back. They got more rude by the second and they knew I could not speak. I was hoping they would at least try to let me communicate but since I cannot talk they felt no need to try to understand me...they took advantage of the fact I could not speak. The gym would still be open 25 minutes but they would not allow me to turn back on the steam function for 2 minutes but the lesser rude one allowed me to at least go instead but she yelled that I could not touch the dial to turn it back on. There were stands of hair everywhere in there and it smelled like urine. It is about $100 a person, they close at 3pm on Sundays and every machine was full!!! And the staff is unbelievably rude, inconsiderate and unprofessional. This place is not worth $10 a month,...
Read moreEver since i started coming to this gym , people have something negative to say about me . Bunch of ego lifters and people just buying time . Very rude to athletes who are training for college sports. Trainers stand around talking about me making progress. Had one trainer come over to my bench knowing i was using it and selfishly started taking the wieghts off to train thier client . They train them on free weight racks with excercises that can be done somewhere else and purposely get in the way . Class leaders here are disrepectful if someone is using the workout room before a class . A lady got in the way of my med ball throw and kicked my ball out of the way and then threatened me to leave . Another guy was trying to be mister big shot by throwing punches in the middle of the hallway at the air like i was supposed to be afraid of him . Theres a specific set of people who are very jelous of me and say negative things every single time i come in to workout . Im a college football athlete and are very disapionted with the gym ediquette , peoples egos and negativity , rude trainers and do not recommend anyone to go here . Due to multiple occerences i will not be coming back and will go to a gym where people come to workout and encourage one another instead of stand around not working out and talk about people because they are more athletic !!! Gym is garbage and will make sure the rest of my teamates and school friends i was gonna bring here and get sighned up dont come...
