Improv-LA is a fantastic place to study Improv. I've studied improv all over and they're really good. It's more of a long-form approach which is definitely my cup of tea. You learn the different styles of long-form such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and London, with Tokyo, Canadian and New York styles coming up. My classmates are fantstic--very talented--always very professional and experienced. We just had a great Level 2 graduation show (yes, they give you a public improv performance venue in your last class). I love this place. Lots of places have great teachers--otherwise they wouldn't be teaching. However, this Level 2 teacher we had, Daniel, was so far beyond just being a veteran improvisor and improv instructor. He is so thoughtful, and caring, and considerate, and supportive--you just don't always run into people like that everyday out walking around on the street, much less improvisational theatre instructors, like Daniel, for every class at all these other places--sometimes--but not always. Daniel should be cloned as the consummate Improv instructor. I've completed various Los Angeles area improv programs0--all the way through to graduation--and made it part-way through others--till I found they were not my cup of tea. I'm really looking forward to Level 3 and lastly, Level 4. Their program head, Keith, is a solid improv teacher and a real good guy, too. ...
Read moreI've been taking classes at Improv LA since late January (now in level 3), and I'm so happy I found this school. Specifically, there's a great amount of variety. I love how they review several styles of improv: Los Angeles (of course), Chicago, London, Asian, New York, Canadian... Every instructor has lent unique perspectives and has been very approachable. I often attend shows at other schools that seem much more intimidating.
My favorite aspect has been the chance to meet cool peeps! Most of my classmates have been like me, just looking to have fun (not trying to get famous or anything). It's interesting how we've been able to connect from different walks of life, from creative professionals to teachers to IT. There's something magical about improv that brings everyone together.
Thanks to my experiences with Improv LA, I feel more confident and more vocal in all areas of my life. If you're shopping for an improv school, I'd definitely...
Read moreIt took me a moment to pull my self together and sign up for improve . The reviews spoke for them self's. From the first moment I walked in I knew I was in the right place. Coach Sean is an extraordinary person. The students that I have met were very lovely , interesting , funny , smart and brave. IMPROVE is an extremally important, life improving , mind opening experience, where You have no choice but to make Your self a full. That shattered some internal walls and ceilings , and exposed new horizons. Out of the box, out of the comfort zone. Some of the experiences were so funny, I have unlocked a new, much higher level of happiness(Cloud 9), and success in my life and the lives of my family and friends. I emphasize Coach Sean. He is a top tier professional . I am anticipating level 2 class. Consistency is the key to success here. No matter how You feel, tiered or down ,...
