Been going here for a few years now, since about mid 2019. The facility and location is great. The equipment is well maintained, and staff are nice. The price is killer too, perfect for just your common dude/chick that needs to get a good work out in but doesn't need fancy stuff or can't quite afford it.
Though, I'm going to spend most of this review complaining about working out between 3-8pm. If you intend of working out during this hour, I suggest going elsewhere. Gym etiquette is thrown out the window and staff do not enforce anything remotely reasonable you would see at other gyms.
Throwing a few examples out there, here are some of the things you'll see at this LA Fitness during peak hour:
People throwing 100lb+ weights on the floor. It's impressive to watch them lift, but if you're on a seat or bench next to them you lowkey have to watch out or risk having the weight someone just threw roll on your feet.
Weights are never re-racked, so you walk up to a bench or platform with a 50/50 chance of someone already using it or not. It's a complete guess.
People will pseudo reserve 2-3 machines for themselves at time, and throw a fit when you try use one of the multiple things they have.
Music played on speakers instead of earbuds. Crazy to think dudes will actually invest hundreds on a speaker for the gym instead of just getting earbuds.
Some dudes will sweat HARD, but then won't wipe down the equipment... absolutely nutty. I watched someone sweat what seemed like a gallon on the bikes upstairs, only to walk away after without wiping it. I feel bad for the person after him knowing they likely sat in this guys dried sweat.
Enforcement of gym etiquette is already low as hell, but forget about it if the dude is big enough or the girl is hot enough. I remember during the height of covid seeing one of the staff walk directly past someone without a mask on, only to enforce the little guy working out nearby to pull up his mask because it was below his nose at his chin.
This place is BUMPIN. It's marketed well, conveniently priced and located, and honestly a pretty cool place to go. Though that means if you're here at peak hour you're forced to use what's available, rather than what you want on that day because the gym is legitimately packed to the 9's. At one point I think someone called the fire marshal because they forced a cap on the amount of people that could go in at one time. There were lines out the door. I had to wait in these lines, and would happily do it again if it means some of the equipment opens up.
This review may across whiny which kind of sucks. I want to re-iterate that the staff are genuinely good people, work hard to maintain this gym, and the amount of options you have for exercises are plentiful. It's just a huge bummer that members completely ruin the experience between 3-8pm.
Highly recommend working out in early morning or mid-day if you...
Read moreI had a appointment scheduled for my free fitness assesment at this gym.. So far I have been a extremely happy member of this gym it is nice and well needless to say very large... Has all the equiptment I need and some thats for sure...
That being said I had scheduled the assesment and was called the day that I made the appt online. The gentlemen I spoke with was very nice and kind and said he saw my appt on his screen and told me it was with Fredrick B. I guess he is the personal trainer manager or watever. To be punctual I showed up five minutes early and let the person at the front desk know I had a appointment with him at 12:00pm they left and told him, the gentlemen came up front and said he was finishing up with a client and would be right up. Ok well great ill have a seat and I waited.. The gentlemen left to go to lunch and told me he was still finishing up and would be out in just a minute.. So I sat and waited some more.
As I sat in the lobby area I noticed I think the manager come up to the front desk and had a argument between two different staff members right there at the front desk a little un professional but watever... I still sat there waiting. I finally checked my phone he was now little over 30 minutes late to our appt.. What is the point of having a appt if I have to sit there for over 30 minutes. If you are a doctor I get that its understandable your saving a life or more important things are happening. However lets face it your not a doctor you are a personal trainer I dont think it would kill Fredrick to come up and apalogize and ask me if I want to re schedule or come back or wait a little longer. If he was to busy I dont get what stopped him from passing it to another person. Or at the very least seeing another person walk by and or calling the front desk to have them alert me.. I had to walk up to the front desk more than 3 times to ask them what was going on and that was beyond the 25 minute mark of my wait..
Needless to say not a good experience with this man. I called the office there and asked for the manager and the woman wouldnt pass me on to her. She asked me why I was calling and I told her she still would not let me get the manager and kept giving me excuses as to why he was busy at the time.
I guess my point is dont ever schedule anything with Fredrick B. if you have something else in your day to get done as I guess he is so important that it will kill him to have some...
Read moreOK so most of the reviews on here are BS. They describe the sales people at this gym as pushy and the gym itself as broken and dirty. This is NOT true. I have been attending this gym for 3 months now and have been thinking a lot about it in preparing for my review. So here goes... Oh and I will also update this review once I cancel my membership to tell you how that goes...
I can tell you that I pay $30/month for this gym. They tried to talk me into paying more. They told me some nonsense about a "special" going on right now that would make it $40 a month. I said look, I want to pay $30 (i already knew other people who pay $30 at this gym so I knew they would go for it) or I'm not signing up. They said they found another special on the computer that would make it $30...yeah right lol. So anyways I pay 30. They try to sign you up with a trainer and offer you a free analysis with one. I did the analysis. The trainers on the other hand actually were very pushy. Dont waste your time.
The gym itself is VERY clean. I dont know what the other reviewers are talking about. Actually my one complaint there is sometimes they are cleaning it even while you are working out! They guys is literally trying to clean the treadmill as I'm using it!!! Kind of annoying... But overall I really do like this gym! They have everything you need there - pool, raquet ball courts, basketball, and all the machines and freeweights. There are lots of good looking guys and girls there.
They have lockers with combos for free and bigger ones for you to use your own locks. The pool and hot tub are great. The hours of the gym are great. I walk there so I dont know anything about the parking. The staff is really nice. I havent done any of the classes but looks like a good amount of people do and they look fun.
The machines are never broken. It does get busy there though. On Tues and Weds nights, VERY BUSY. You will have to wait for a machine for sure. But who cares. I like places with lots of people.
I lost my check in card and they give you one extra free. I lost it again a month later and they tried to charge me for it. That is lame. The thing must cost less than a penny. I refused so now I must give my phone number every time.
Its a great gym though! I...
