I recently bought a beautiful tray from this amazing store, knowing that my sister would immediately fall in love with it, and it would make the perfect gift! Unfortunately my dog decided to make the tray a little afternoon snack. I was extremely distraught and thought the gift I had purchased for my sister was done for. I contacted Max and sent him a pic of the wreckage. Not only was he sweet enough to repair the tray but he made two bracelets from the scraps that my daughters quickly decided belonged to them! I was delighted by his thoughtful and generous offering to repair my tray however it was the extra care he placed by making the stunning bracelets for my daughters that really caught my attention. I work in the retail world and it is few and far between that a brand actually cares about their customer. I feel whole heartedly like the kindness and generosity max showed me shines brightly in his unique and meticulously made artwork. Visited Made Solid in Nov. 2018 after seeing the shop in Instagram stories. I didn’t fully know what to expect and was so delighted by what I found. The store is owned and apparently run by a husband/wife team who also do the leather and beading sold in the store. There are some Japanese ceramics, tea, incense and other imports as well as tiles from Mexico and a small selection of cotton tee shirts. The shop is small and lovely. Both owners were out front talking to my friend and I about their pieces. They were very helpful and because they create so much of what they sell, also very knowledgeable. I ended up purchasing a tile and coaster set from Mexico that the owner had backed with his leather as well as sandalwood incense from Japan. Bought two pieces from this guy a year back. I asked if he could change the length of one item, I'd cover postage as I live out of town. He said "yes" and then confirmed that he had received it. Nothing for months. I reach out and he apologies says he was busy. Nothing again for months. He won't return my calls, answer emails, or contact me in any way.
