Disappointing Experience with Surgery & Post-Operative Billing — Proceed with Caution
I feel deeply disappointed by my experience with Dr. Marc Samson at LA Orthopedic Center and feel a responsibility to share it so others can make an informed decision.
Last year, I underwent knee surgery with Dr. Samson for a torn meniscus. Prior to the procedure, I had clearly requested that the tear be repaired, not removed. Unfortunately, he did the opposite of what I asked—he removed part of the meniscus instead of attempting a repair. This decision not only went against my explicit request but has affected my long-term recovery in ways I had hoped to avoid.
That alone would have been enough to leave me disheartened. But the post-surgical experience made things much worse.
At the time of the surgery, I was unemployed and struggling financially. When I received the bill, I immediately called the office to request a payment plan—something manageable I could commit to, even during financial hardship. I called three separate times, spoke with staff, and left detailed messages. Each time, I was told someone would speak with the doctor and get back to me. No one ever did.
Instead of offering any assistance or working with me in good faith, the account was eventually sent to a collections agency without warning. The bill is now accruing daily interest, making it even more difficult to resolve.
I believe it’s important to let others know that in my experience, Dr. Samson did not listen to my treatment requests and showed no willingness to help me navigate the financial burden afterward—even when I proactively reached out multiple times. Sending a patient to collections without any attempt at communication is not just disappointing, it’s disheartening and, frankly, feels punitive.
Please consider this before seeking care here, especially if you are hoping to be heard—both in the exam room and after the...
Read moreMy experience at Dr.Samson's office was a very pleasant one. His staff was friendly and professional in assisting me in getting the care I needed. Dr. Samson is the most amazing doctor ever. He is so passionate and caring for his patients. He takes his time with each of his patient, which is really wonderful. He also speaks Spanish, fluently, which I love to hear him speak. I would be in a waiting room listening to Dr. Samson speak Spanish to his patients, which is a smart and good think to know. It makes his ability to communicate with his patients much easier for him. I like that about him, because it shows Dr. Samson really cares enough about his patients understanding how much he care for them. I am so blessed to have met a sweet and kind man like Dr.Samson, and to have had him be the doctor who had operated on my knee twice. I will always recommend him to anyone who is in need of an Orthopedic doctor. Thank...
Read moreDr. Samson is a wonderful doctor, and if this was just about him it would be a million stars! His office is completely non-responsive. I saw Dr. Samson and he had a couple of prescriptions to help me with some pain management and the office didn’t call those in. It took two weeks to get a hold of someone who could help. They then told me Dr. Samson was out of the office but they would try to get another doctor to help expedite the prescription. They said they’d follow up with me but they never did, my appointment was on 5/22 it’s now 6/21 and I can’t get them to respond to my voice messages or texts. I’ve now made an appointment with a new orthopedic doctor to try to get help with my pain, the best part is they remembered to send me a bill about a week ago. If Dr. Samson practices at a different location I’d definitely see him but not with his current...
