Small authentic Japanese market. The produce section was limited. Center aisles have items typical of a market but from Japan. Liquor aisle was enticing. Fresh fish. I like the available portions. Smaller for two. Almost bought tuna. They had Hamachi cheek, impressive. The meat section was descent. Didn't examine closely. We went specifically for sushi. I read other reviews about being pricey. My opinion is pretty reasonable for the quality and freshness. The sushi is made that day. They were still bringing more selections out. We were there at 10:30 am. You would pay more for a restaurant experience plus 20% tip for the same product. Of course, they don't have "special " rolls, but cut and sashimi variety is impressive. There are too many choices. Next time, I'm trying the fatty tuna roll. They also have bento boxes. Salmon, fried chicken, fresh water eel, BBQ beef, pork cutlet, and more. Looked good. If you're worried about pricing, understand it's about quality and freshness. Most center aisle items are imported. Aldi is across the street. I recommend taking a look. Bring a sweater if you're planning to shop for a while. The temp inside is cool and crisp to keep...

My husband and I came pretty late in the evening so they were wiped clean of a lot of stuff! But that doesn’t take away from how exciting it is to have what seems(I am not Japanese, and never visited Japan)authentic Japanese foods! It was so fun for me because I watch a lot of those 7/11 Japanese food videos on YouTube(IDK why lol). I finally got to try onigiri! Which was really exciting for me haha! And yeah it’s not big but tbh I am not sure what people would be expecting?! Ranch 99 is a pretty big Asian market in Van Nuys, and there is another one by Kaiser on woodman. But I believe this one is specifically Japanese. Anyways I can’t wait to come back during the day when they have more grab and go foods! So stoked this is only ten mins from my house! Picked up some cream puffs and white bread making egg salad...

Mitsuwa Market in the Valley! No more driving all the way to Santa Monica or Torrance to get your fix. Although this store doesn't have the food court like the other locations, they still have a wonderful bento section that carry freshly made sushi, fried food, sandwiches, etc. Snack selection is very robust. Fresh produce, prepped meat (jidori parts, pork, beef, they even sold wagyu steak @ grand open day), and all the condiments and sauces needed for Japanese cooking at home. Soft drink selection was a bit small, but they carried all the popular products. Self checkout line will surely help with the high traffic this place will be getting. Parking is a bit tricky to find in this lot. Overall this Mitsuwa store has brought reliable Japanese grocery to a much needed neighborhood in the valley, and I for one...

It's a scaled down version of their regular sized Japanese Market. Yet it has all the essentials. Including a small selection of fresh produce, refrigerated section, fresh meat, frozen section, dry & packaged foods, and more. They also have ready to eat foods, including rice balls (Onigiri). The prices on most items are more expensive than you might find elsewhere. But, that's to be expected in a smaller store. However, there are some good deals to be found. The prices for Japanese pickles (tsukemono) were very reasonable. And, a Japanese favorite, frozen Gyoza was selling at a fantastic price. If you shop around there are quite a few good deals to be found. The ready to eat foods look delicious. And, so do the rice balls, which I've had. They're a great snack to have on the go.

Decided to visit this store after seeing all the hype online, and was left disappointed, to be honest. The shelves were almost all empty, which I found odd since the store was pretty crowded. The prices seem to be a bit higher on the products that are already available at other stores. They sell Japanese wagyu steak, which looked great, but for the high price it should come with a certificate in my opinion( I have bought Japanese wagyu before and it has always come with a certificate, but that's just my opinion). Parking can be difficult to find, especially since the shopping plaza has many restaurants and stores. Overall I was disappointed with this place but will give them another try in the future, hopefully, it will be fully stocked next time.
