I chose Sarah Leonard Fine Jewelers because of their excelent reviews, but my experience was different. I had a golden ring that was bought and resized elsewhere, and I needed a Jeweler to repair it as it snapped where it was soldered when resizing. I brought the ring to them on Saturday morning and explained what needed to be done. The employee that I was talking to then went away to check with somoene and after about 10 minutes of waiting came back to confirm that they will resolder and straighten it which will cost me anywhere between $70-$100. I asked if we can be sure that after re-soldering it it will hold up and won't break after 6 months like it did the first time and I was assured that it will be solid (of course under normal conditions which is understandable). They said that they will give me a call back next Wednesday/Thursday. During that week I did not get any call or message so I called them back the next Monday. When I called it seemed like they did not know where my rings was and after about 5 minutes of scrambling I was told that I will be called back. They then soon called me and said that the cost of the repair will actually be $140 (almost double than what I was told in person!). When I brought this up I was told that the price is what it is. I did not want to go through the hassle of picking it up and taking it elsewhere so I agreed to proceed. However, when I asked them again if they can be certain that the seam will hold I was then told that they cannot say! At this point I was really starting to doubt this decision and asked what can be done to make sure it holds as I did not want to go through this again. They offered re-shanking it for $260 which was now almost 3 times the price I was first quoted for the final outcome that I wanted (to make sure the ring is fixed properly and does not snap out of nowhere again). I agreed to re-shank it as at this point I really needed the ring back. After about 10 days I was advised that the ring is ready to be picked up, and since I could not show up myself I asked someone else to pick up on my behalf. The chery on top was when I was told that the final amount paid was $285 because apparently the $260 price did not include taxes. I would highly recomend getting opinions and quotes from other places before you decide to work with Sarah Leonard...
Read moreWhat an incredible experience! I recently called Dean and spoke to him regarding buying my teenage son a gift. I know they deal with much bigger and more expensive pieces so I was a little shy in taking up so much of his time asking so many silly questions. He was so patient with us and asked all the right questions to my teen son which really made him feel important and a part of the experience. We never felt rushed or pressured to buy anything. Dean and the rest of the staff offered so many great suggestions and made us feel like we were part of the family. This store is really such a throwback to when customer service was actually good, I never receive this level of assistance anywhere. We asked so many questions and they gave us so much insight that we felt really good about our choice. We toyed with the idea of going to Costco or Macy's for a good deal but we actually got something so much better and way more unique and special at Sarah Leonard's. It is so important to shop local and support small businesses so we will definitely be going back here! They gave such a stunning assortment of vintage and estate pieces!!!! I have never seen such a HUGE assortment of things I absolutely loved like these items! You could spend hours in there truly. Ditch the...
Read moreIf I could put in a higher rating, I would! I had the unfortunate situation in which I had to get a couple of pieces that needed some maintenance. Upon arriving the Sarah Leonard, I felt like I was home. Dean was friendly and I knew that he has been in the business for many years. He was blowing me away with little known facts about the pieces that I was getting fixed. He also offered water/coffee while I was there! You can't get this level of customer service any where else!
After dropping off the pieces, Dean was quick to provide updates on the expected completion date and the price for the repairs. He was also generous with a trade in of a Baum and Mercer watch that my mom had for many years, as well! Once they were done, he told me when it would be a good time to get them looked at and were cleaned to a better state than when dropped them off!
I would recommend this family owned business to anyone that needs their jewelry fixed/restored or if you are in the market for an engagement or wedding ring! You will be well taken...
