TLDR excellent food but poor service. Party of four seated at 610pm. Drinks and apps ordered right away. Drinks were very good and apps were excellent (arancini, crispy rice, and calamari). Entrees ordered at 650pm. Waiter (male, long curly hair with bangs) was rarely seen after that, very slow to clear app plates, took silverware and failed to replace even after two requests. 735 I head to the restroom and pass entrees on the way to our table. As I pass the kitchen I hear a frantic “pork chop, pork chop, pork chop!” I laugh figuring they’re talking about my entree; I was right. Three of four entrees delivered, but no pork chop. Waiter makes no acknowledgement of missing entree. 10 minutes later we flag him down, he says they are plating and begrudgingly goes to check. Does not come back. Five minutes later we find him and ask to cancel the chop. He again makes no apology or acknowledgement of the error. Swiftly drops the check and says he “took care of the pork chop”. …Thanks, I guess? We pay the bill $230 or so via CC. Table mate goes to talk to manager, who apologizes profusely and wishes we talked to him prior to paying the bill. He says he has our names and will take care of our drinks on the next visit. Seriously, That’s the best you are willing to offer? Like a post-it on the bulletin board in the back? Your offer to make things right is contingent on me making the 90 minute commute and spending more money after a poor first experience. Sincere apology, but disappointing resolution from the manager. A real shame, because the other entrees were stellar (Cacio e pepe, burger, and pea tendril salad.) Wish I could say the same for the pork chop. I hate leaving such a poor review, but in the end this waiter cost 60 minutes of my time waiting for an entree that would never be delivered, and the manager made no reasonable concession. Mistakes happen, but it’s all in the follow up. Keep your “free cocktails” as we aren’t willing to take the chance again. However, complements to the kitchen, food was...
Read moreWolfsglen is a perfect date spot in Westwood because of the ambiance and service. It’s dim inside, with inviting evening lighting choices, from the dimmable table lamps to the pink design lit up around the border of the bar.
You can get a reservation on OpenTable, and there’s cheaper parking available at the meters if you don’t want to park in the lot next door.
For an appetizer, you absolutely need to order the Baja Sea Bass Ceviche ($24) that comes with passion fruit & aji amarillo sauce, pickled cherries, tomatoes, micro cilantro, and a side of well-seasoned tortilla chips for scooping. The citrusy sweetness from the passion fruit pairs perfectly with the sea bass, and I will definitely be re-ordering this every time I dine here.
Although we were expecting something more substantial, the Bone Marrow & Wagyu Pastrami ($27) is a flavorful savory appetizer for meat-lovers. The meat comes piled on top of the bone, along with grain mustard, capers, shallots, and mushrooms, accompanied by sourdough bread on the side.
We came here for the pasta (they have gluten free noodles!) but unfortunately all of their pasta dishes contain dairy that can’t be removed, including the pasta menu items that don’t list cheese. Hopefully they update their menus soon, because we ordered the Bolognese ($27) with the 7 hour braised meat sauce given that I’m a lactose-intolerant carnivore and it was the only pasta that didn’t list parmesan as an ingredient. Not only did it come out covered in cheese, but they couldn’t re-make it dairy free because they pre-mix cheese in the sauce. I’d really appreciate it if they tried making a dairy free meat sauce, as I’m sure other lactose intolerant folks would as well.
I was overcharged by a few dollars for the wine I ordered, and when I brought it up to the server he did adjust my bill and he let me know the menu had it listed at the incorrect price. Yet another reason why I hope they fix their menu soon, because the ambiance and food-taste here...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Fellow for lunch a couple months ago. Fully intended to write a review then and forgot... I went last night for dinner and NOM F** NOM!!! Review time!
The space is very open. Feels like NY with Cali chill. Incredible ambiance and energy. Hip but unpretentious.
Best cocktail list I've seen in awhile. The "Oh Draaaaam!", the coffee infused barrel aged "Fellow Old Fashioned", and the barrel aged "Clint Westwod" tie for my favorites so far. Nice variety on the wine list as well.
I started with oysters because oysters make me happy. They were incredibly fresh and the mignonette was perfect. Next, the incredible taste sensation that is the Ora King Salmon tartare. Best salmon tartare I've ever had hands down!! My tastebuds are still thanking me :). Followed up with the burrata and cucumber salad, perfect texture, extremely delicious...then the Spanish octopus :) it was the most succulent I've ever had, tender with the perfect amount of spice.
For my main I had the Cedar plank grilled salmon, WOW!... you know that feeling when you're full and know you shouldn't go any further but the dish is too epic to stop eating... ? that was me and my love affair with this Salmon last night...it was cooked to PERFECTION, I could eat it every night. For sides I tried the charred broccolini, which was super flavorful, don't know what they season it with, magic maybe, and curried brussel sprouts which were such a delightful surprise with their rich flavor and wonderful texture, the toasted buckwheat is a perfect touch.
For dessert, the chocolate soufflé...OMG...fluffy chocolate heaven, perfect amount of chocolate and not too rich.
Fellow is officially my new favorite restaurant. Westwood desperately needed...
