Preface: I know this review might come across petty, I'm more discussing the principle of my interaction, and my frustrations with the Sweetfin rewards program. I want to give the staff the benefit of the doubt, but this is actually the 2nd time (diff location) that I've had them refuse to take a reward. They should just not have one if they don't let you use it.
I came in today trying to use a reward that was loaded into my account, which entitled me to some free taro chips and explicitly, nowhere in the reward, mentioned that I had to purchase something. (I have bought things from Sweetfin in the past, was just looking forward to using my reward.) I clicked the "redeem in-store" button as soon as I walked in, walked up to the counter and tried to place my order; but despite the cashier standing behind some device that I figured could take orders, directed me to a big iPad on the side and told me to place my order there. I say ok and try to do so, but there's nowhere for me to log in/add the reward on there, so I go back and show the different person who's now behind the register my phone opened to the app and clearly showing the reward. But he insists that I have to buy something in order to use the reward - I checked the terms and conditions AND the email that they sent the reward in when I got home, it never mentions that purchase is required for using that specific reward. I left disappointed but didn't feel like arguing, so now that reward shows up as used up in my account despite the fact that I never actually received the item. I wanted to tell the worker that I have actually bought items from Sweetfin in the past, don't worry, you guys get my money - but this was frustrating, not because I so desperately needed these chips or whatever, but for the principle of the matter. Why even notify me that I have a reward I can use when Sweetfin staff...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been a Sweetfinn customer for the last 2 months, ordering at least once a week, they are losing my business now.
My visit to Sweetfinn left a notably negative impression due to a regrettable encounter with one of the cashiers. Despite having placed an order through the Sweetfinn app and arriving within the designated pick-up window, I faced an issue with the cashier. Who incorrectly asserted that I was over an hour late for the pick-up, insisting that the appointed time was 12:08 when in reality, it was scheduled for 12:28.
Upon informing the cashier of the correct pick-up time, he conveniently introduced a new 45-minute late policy and refused to allow me to pick up the order and provide a refund. The encounter was further aggravated by the cashier's rude and condescending demeanor. His repeated use of the phrase āDo you understand," delivered in a highly condescending tone, suggested a lack of respect and understanding. This not only created a frustrating and unpleasant experience but also indicated a disregard for customer service. This was particularly troubling as it gave the impression of xenophobic behavior. It left me with the strong impression that the cashier was assuming I did not understand English.
Overall, based on this encounter, I would strongly advise against ordering or purchasing food from Sweetfinn, especially for individuals who may face language barriers, as the cashier's behavior suggested a lack of sensitivity and understanding towards non-English speakers. Save yourself some time and energy and go to the restaurant across the street, where you can eat good poke and be treated with basic respect, as any...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love Sweetfin- I have been a huge fan for several years.
I used to order the large (4.5 ounce protein), rather than the small (2.5 ounce protein) and add extra protein (3 ounces), for a total of 7.5 ounces. But I never used to finish the rice. So, I switched to ordering the small and adding protein (total 5.5 ounce), but I would find I still needed something to eat after that.
Today, I ordered the large without adding extra protein and I feel very satisfied. It was a perfect amount for me.
My order: Large BYOB bowl ($15.90) Base (up to 3 options) : forbidden rice, coconut rice, and kelp noodle slaw) Protein (up to 2 options): yellowfin tuna (4.5 ounces) Sauces (up to 3): yuzu koshu, add extra, on the side Free toppings (up to 6): cilantro, chili orange, cucumber, pickled ginger, pineapple, seaweed salad Options: No sesame seeds
Cons: There was some black marks on the inside of my bowl- probably from where they handled the bowl. I took my order to go, but after leaving, I realized they forgot the pickled ginger and they added sesame seeds. Similar things have occurred in the past, and for that reason, I deducted a star. However. I feel that I am partially to blame for not noticing before I left.
Pros: They completed my order on time (I placed it through the app). The staff working there was helpful and had good customer service. The food...
