I applied after seeing job ads on job sites. And once you apply, the job site directs you to the company website and you talk to a bot’. You even tell the bot’ what time you are available every week and an interview is scheduled based on the needs on the company. If you are a good candidate, you are scheduled for an interview and you can create an account on the company site.
The store I went to looked brand new, very organized and clean. Best of all, the surroundings were beautiful and there were so many stores that you could tour in or shop with. I was really exited about working for Aldi because of the non GMO food and the non gluten meals. But, I have a part time job. And I told the bot’ and the website my availability. Mornings and noons to early evening weekdays and I was open even 12 hours or for closing on weekends. Most companies need people to close on weekends and I praise jobs like Walgreens or places that don’t pay the most but they allow you to work either shift.
I get to the store early and I’m told 12 people will show up and to hold on. I wait and one young woman showed up. We got a tour of the store and the freezers and we were told that if we cannot be flexible and open for all shifts during the week, we can only get part time. I was fine with part time hours though I wanted full time hours. But once I had my one on one interview, I was told that part time workers get 0 hours for weeks at a time and they are only called if someone calls in.
In the interview, we were also told there are 3-4 interviews and the first one was a group meeting. The 2nd on was with a supervisor and the next one would be with HR and you still had to wait until the 4th contact to know if you were hired. I would have been honored to work there with another job but 4 interviews for a grocery clerk position?!
The job seems so fun. And it pays $17.50 an hour. No over time but you get 32-40 hours a week. I work in warehouses where it’s really hot or cold so I would have loved the job.
You can’t be a college student. You can’t be a single mom that works two jobs or a single woman that has two jobs to pay $1000 rent along with WiFi $72, and cell phone for $100 and your car note and insurance.
You have to be an old lady or a person with a roommate and someone to pay half your rent to thrive on 32 hours a week at $17.50 hour. And you have to be open to working for Aldi on any shift every week. It’s too expensive to thrive these days to not be allowed to have a side job.
I wish employers would stop judging people for having a part time job and wanting a full time job. No one should have to be open from 5am until 11pm unless they get to work that many hours to make so much money. When you accept a job that can’t pay all your bills, you should be able to say “I can work 1st, 2nd or 3rd, not all of your shifts.”
They need to change their hiring process because it wastes time and gas money. It also is very disappointing.
I still plan to shop with Aldi because their food selection looks amazing. I wouldn’t cheat myself out of non gmos fruits and meals.
But I keep seeing their part time promoted to me due to algorithms and I’m like “I was told no part time is available and that you will get 0 hours for weeks to a month before you are...
Read moreThis was my first time visiting this store. My first impressions are that it is nice and clean and the prices are competitive. The store itself is not that big but they do offer a decent selection of groceries as well as cleaning items. A few things to know about the store is that it they offer many organic and GMO free foods. They also do not have plastic bags for your groceries so you have to either bring your own bags or buy their reusable bags. To use their carts you also have to use a quarter to unlock them but you do get your quarter back when you return the cart.
Update: After a few more visits, I would take half a star away if I could. The store and produce section always has a musty smell. Many of the produce items also have mold on then. So pick and choose carefully. The only reason I didn't change to 3 stars is because of their good selection of healthy brands.
Update 2: After my most recent visit, the produce section was fresh and clean. No issues...
Read moreI barely shop at this location, but after today experience I don't intend on returning, will stick with Buechel location. Not one to dwell on racism but definitely was profiled. Myself and another (white customer, whom had a shopping cart) walked in briefly behind one another, him after me. I was approached by an employee that the store was closing less than 5 minutes, nothing said to the man. We both make it in and out by 8. I sat in my car and watched a white lady walk in at 8:01, the man that I'm assuming was the manager watched her, nothing said to her. As he walked to lock the door, I asked why wasn't anything said to her for walking in as he watched, but I was approached for making it in 5 minutes before closing. I stated I didn't appreciate it and that was unfair to me whom spent my earned money. He just said okay as if nothing was wrong. I'm quite sure me not shopping there won't hurt, but I want others...
